But ah just wanted to add, I still have my jersey i storage in Canada.

The first time ah see one was on de bus in Toronto. Ah tell de man flat ah go buy off he back right dey but he just laugh and say no.

Meh fadda friend see me admiring his and give it to me just so.

I've outgrown it, but when I settle down with house and thing and no more travelling, I plan to put it in a frame and remember the magic of the Strike Squad, they should have never changed that design.....it was truly special.

I was a neighbour of his nephew, Glen Hamel-Smith who is now a lawyer in TT.

Glen's dad, Michael played striker for CIC in the late 50s or 60s.

Having said that, on the other street lived Bertie and Alana Stuart. Anybody know their relation to TT sport.

My goodness yuh bring back some sweet memories dey boy.

I recognise Dexter Francis, Michael Maurice, Latas with some serious hair on head, Hutson Charles and Yorke. I think I recognise Dexter Lee too.

Clive Pantin definitley scored right up to the early 60s.

Another decent white playe for TT in the 50s and 60s was a fellow called Hamel-smith..don't know the first name.

I know he scored goals as well.

The TTFF was established around 1908.

As we all know whites ran the game back then. So tyhere have been a lot of white players who represented TT.

Logic dictates that there were regular white scorers until the 1960s.

My question is who is the LAST white man to score for TT prior to Birchall?

Steeep i would not even study you i give yuh proof yuh just want to hold on to the mere fact that he did not speak to david platt  and turn down a call up to play for trinidad you could not believe any player in his right mind will do that.Wait nuh well is either one of stories correct your guess is as good as mine.

The point  is that he walked away from a chance to play for england becuase  had he not taken our call up he would not have lost his place at watford and most likly be in platts plans

YOU FIND ME A LIST OF PLAYERS CALLED BY DAVID PLATT TO TRY OUT FOR  UNDER 21 SQUAD.now dont make it up

Waıt nah....you gone from steuuppss to 'steep'....What de hell is dat? The singular of steeps, otherwise known as steeups.. ;D

Is Fatima college considered to be in St. James or Woodbrook. How they could forget a big institution like that?

Not forgotten...Fatima is listed in the St. James section..with a nice photo to boot.

In my opinion Fatima right on the border.

However, I believe more Muco than St. James...just my opinion.

« on: July 01, 2005, 02:50:22 AM »
Palos,

to say Alvin has acxhieved nothing at any level is a bit of an exagerration.

In the early 80s as national Coach he took TT to the Caribbena title pounding 7 goals past PR in the final.

He has given many opportunitties to players through ALCONS and did take Fatima to the national Intercol title in 1979.

Now I eh saying he is a superstar..but doh say he man has achieved nothing.

And I have a feeling if you look at his coaching stints abroad in the US he may have won some hardward there as well.

Oh lawd.....fellas what going on here.  Ah had to jump in.  Here is my take on Alvin.  The man is a good coach, however, he is an awful selector.  Meaning, he knows his stuff but whenever he coached he would always selector friends and family.  See Anton Corneal as probably the youngest person to ever suit up for the TNT national team at the tender age of 16..

With that said the man does have a lot of ideas and he is very well respected outside of T&T regardless of what anyone on this forum says.

Sorry Arimaman,

but ppl. only say that about Anton becz the Coach was his father.

Anton was a boss player Coaches continued to select for the next 12 odd years after his national debut.

Gally thought enough of him to select him for the Strike Squad, until he and Skeene buss a cuss in Gally ass in a training camp in P. Rico...and then he had a little hiatus from the national set up :)

When Alvin was mentioned as TD after Porter's sacking everybody was loving his ideas. But when Alvin say he didn't want Vranes as part of the set up they dump he ass.

Bear in mind back in the 80s Alvin openly backed the Suite brothers against Jack and was then declared "persona non grata" by FIFA.

Alvin have his faults but he has had some good points too.

Alvin has always been willing to blood young talent. I remember Ronnie Simmons and some other College fellas making they debut while still in highschool vs. Barbados. The press criticised, but these were prodigies and against modes international opposition they held their own.

TTF,

u have a point. I have been on this site for years. and anyone with some basic sense know there can  be some very useful info gleaned from amongst the post.

This is why Planet Football and our own TD pay attention to it.

Likewise u can glean some useful stuff from the other sites if u have someone willing to make de macco.

I didn't see this info on Sancho..you think the TT Staff going to pass this info along to the opponents. Yes we should use some discretion.

Now tactics wise I know most coaches don't give a damn what we think, even if we right.

Most of don't want to see Glenn or Theo. start. We didnt want Glasgow there ahead of Glenn, but you know Leo eh taking we on.

However, useful info for the opposition that's not easy to come by should not be given on a silver platter.

Talk code...say a man toe buss...pm the name..or smthing.

vb,
You really believe he not in the team because of them BS excuses?
All of the drama start with him being bunched then all them things start popping up out of nowhere.

He can't be serious about that contract nonsense....I'm sure he was given a copy long time ago. I sure he was grandstanding with the manager looking to argue with him but the manager tell him to piss off.

I glad you so sure.

I'm not.

POST OF THE WEEK BOSS! POST OF THE WEEK!

Whereas I don't appreciate the comments. How can I be surprised. The man is paying Birc.'s wages, if he gets injured and is out for a month or two...he has to continue to foot the bill.

Didn't Alex Ferguson - a few years ago say that He didn't care about TT football - regarding the availability of Yorke.

None of these managers give a damn about our sucess...he just saying what the rest of them thinking.

I gues I would be angrier if I didn't expect it.

Lord,
a man compare Abu Bakr and Clayton Ince. Allyuh wrong for dat yes.
Those names shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

Marcos,

I'm forced to agree with you boy! That's a helluva comparison to make.

Maybe I'm reading it diff. form the rest of you all.

They were slow in ascertaining the man's illness....they DIDN'T  want to show a copy of his contract. The man make it clear being   benched was not the prob. as it hs hppned often in the past.

He admit that although he was fed up with the incompetence and arrogance he was rash.

He has made it clear that the PRIORITY now is JOB and looking after his future. Nothing  wrong with dat. Clayton has given us good service in the past. And to be quite frank in his condition he shouldn't even have  been on the bench.

Dont' give Clayton a second chance?? YOu've got to be kidding? What Dwight Yorke doing there?

Football / Re: Who are the top Local Coaches in T&T?
« on: June 26, 2005, 10:18:00 AM »
Brian Williams was the most successful youth coach in TT during the late 90 and early tens but didn't get a chance to do anything at the national level. Only when Fervier Coached did BW get an Assistant's job. Let's see what he does with Petro.

Fervier,
BW,
Leroy Spann,
Jan Steadman is very respected by those I've spoken to.
Gally has to be considered

However, top Coaching minds may not always be getting the opportunnities to show it.
