Football / Pretty but Shitty...................
« on: April 05, 2006, 12:11:26 PM »
Pretty but Shitty, that is how they used to discribe players who had all the top facilities and latest gear at their disposal but who were woefull on the playing field.

After all the stadia, the World Cup qualification, the huge injection of petro dollars, a professional league, men on scholarships, coaching courses galore, Finta deal, and the Jao Havelange Center of excellence at our disposal, we let Haiti come and Dominica come in we back yard and Planarse we.

Somebody please let the powers that be know, that it is common knowledge that a great former player does not necessarily make for a great future coach....(Fire La Forest NOW!!!!!!)

Like the Dutch, the Brazilians, the Americans etc, we have to invest in great youth coaches to develop our future players. I am sorry, but a U-21 program is a precurser to your senior team, you cannot afford to fart-around with that squad.

From all accounts, the reasons for the failure have to be placed squarely on the shoulders of the technical staff, or should I say the lack thereof.

Again, like with Anton Corneal in the US recently, we were dismantled by CONCACAF opposition and found severly wanting. When will we learn?

Based on my sources the team selection is also a major area of concern, like with the Corneal selection for the U-17 and U-20, picking teams based on allegances will continue to be our downfall. T&T does not have enough quality players to afford us picking friends.

If you want to be a National Coach, you must be able to withstand the pressure (You cyar play mass but fraid powder). If you in charge, then do all in your power to ensure success, them pathetic excuses made by Corneal, La Forest, Corneal Snr, and Phillips, are getting old quickly.

So we will continue to be embarrased by St Vincent, Dominica, and Haiti until we are more inclusive with our selection process, and do quality prepartions along with effective leadership.

p.s. Next time Ron La, if you ever have one...

Back in 1982 Brazil had a cheap cotton shirt with nothing special or distinctive on it. There was nothing especially Brazilian about their shirt. however when I look at old footage of Zico, Socrates etc....that classic Brazil shirt will always look special......They didn't need to have BRASIL written across their chest for you to know it's Brazil.

Look at some of the greatest teams of the past, and their kits......No watermark or nuttin' like what you talkin' about. Those teams of the past made their uniforms special because of what those teams stood for and what they contributed to the game....

What our team stands for is a reflection of what they do when they get out on the field, and how they let  their game represent our country......This eh no carnival......This is no style parade...This is football. You want a steelpan on your shirt, then customize your own kit........

You bawl "stand up for something socawarriors.net" and then bit*ching about our kit......nit-picking about the emblem and a flippin' watermark.......steupsss................No offense, but I suggest you stand up for something else......

The kit doesn't give the team character.......it's the other way around....

"Kicker", is an apt name for you, cause you definately not a "Reader". You creating things that I did not say, and by the way, all them teams you mentioned in the eighties always had their national flag or federation emblem and thier countries names on their gear.

1.Team Gear and Kit is two different things.

2. Nobody ever said that football was carnival or vise-versa. (you ah bobolee oh what? you could read?)

3. Pan was a suggestion, and by the way "kicker", pan is not only associated with Carnival, try opening your mind to pan as one of the symbols of T&T, .....pan does play classical music too, but you might not know this maybe cause you eh not true Trini.

4. What the team wear may not be important to you "kicker", but your criticism is inaccurate, anybody can go on FIFA website and see all the teams in the eighties, and even before, like back in Pele days.

Next time, get your facts first before you open that hole in your face.

I know a few men say they like the new kit, and some say once is Adiddas we should be happy, others say it have red, white and black so that acceptable. Some even say the uniform is not important, is how we play, fine.

All other countries like Japan, Jamaica, Brazil, USA, Saudi Arabia, etc., all have thier own distinctive symbols on their uniforms and team gear. Not to mention the name of their country displayed proudly. Why did Adiddas not do the same for us, after all that time they had since November.

We as supporters should not accept this, we need to start agitating for some alterations to this kit.

1. That IRAQy looking flag behind the logo must go.

2. Some Trinbago symbol displayed as a watermark or something
(ah pan or something, cause it is known internationally and is embraced by most if not all trinbagonians)

3. Trinidad and Tobago on we gear, if not we kit as well.

4. And if I had my way, that dotish TTFF logo would be replaced by an embroidered T&T Coat of Arms, like back when we played for T&T.

When we accept second rate, we perpetrate the third-world mentality that traps us in a cycle of mediocrity. Look at all the dumping of inferior cars, and products that we accept in the third-world.

Finally, not that I am saying we should be like or cousins up north, but ask yourself this question, do you think Jamaicans would have accepted a kit like that as thier own?

BY the way this is not a UNIFORM THREAD, this is a SOCA WARRIORS SUPPORTERS MAKE A STAND THREAD.

Easily the most SHITTY KIT I ever see on a T&T team, unfortunately that is what we have to wear at our first ever World Cup.

This Adiddas design is shit! I am soooooo disapointed, even Flipper and Rossi was better. Finta laughing they heads off, and Jack too, for the kick back he get from Adiddas. (Yes I have court clothes.)

What kinda moron will put the F'ing Iraq national flag behind we dotish TTFF logo? What about that uniform says Trinidad and Tobago? Not one FU_K!

Did Adiddas even look at we F'ing flag before they throw this piece ah shit together for we? This is a sad day indeed..................

very much under rated Trinbago Midfielder Aurtis Whitley will be a key factor for the Trinidad and Tobago group stages games against Sweden, England, Paraguay. With something to prove and the opposite midfielder looking at the warriors with under estimation, a great battle will take place, as Aurtis has a die hard mentality and never suffocates his ability to so called "big player". Watch out

You better watch out! Why you duh hull yuh stinkin arse! How yuh go compare Aurtis to Roy Keane? Yuh ah kinda Cv*t or whoa? Look ulyuh fellahs does jus jump up, and talk real shit oui. Now Aurtis read your post and get swell headed and jus so we midfiled geh frig up.

cana. Local singing sensations Mavis John and Singing Francine heads a list of possible replacements targeted by TTFF for the unexpected replacement of US Grammy winning superstar Janet Jackson.
Contacted late yesterday for her comments, Singing Francine said she was still in negotiation with Jack and could not disclose any details but guartantees that there would be no wardrobe malfunctions.
Mavis John who seemed to be a second choice, reluctantly expressed her displeasure at being considered second fiddle to Singing Francine, saying that she (Francine) only had one song "Dog does run away", whereas she (Mave) had multiple hits including the biggest selling local hit with then hubby Dave Elcock.

« on: February 07, 2006, 01:09:40 PM »
Yes I agree that Uncle Sam have more resources than us. However, the most important resource that keeps T&T in the position of student with US as teacher (Constantly breakin we arse), is the resource of players.

US obviously has more players to choose from, but we continue to add insult to injury by being under prepared before games and by further shooting ourselves in the foot by politicizing our coach, and  team selection process, as if we can afford to do that. (eg. the Corneals, Najjars, and Vidals - coaches) (players - too many to list)

We may like how Brazil plays, but for the last time, WE ARE NOT EVEN SMELLIN LIKE BRAZIL!!!!!!!!

When we continue to be partisant, and select friend and family for everything, we are limiting our already limited resources. So we cut arse will continue to be booked from all quarters. Dem Yankee does laugh at we when ever we ha to play dem.

Wales
Hartson makes retirement call
(REUTERS) 06 Feb 2006

Wales striker John Hartson announced his retirement from international soccer on Monday.
"It is a sad day for me because I have loved playing for my country and representing the Welsh people for a number of years," the 30-year-old said in a statement. "Now I have made this decision I will be concentrating my efforts 100 percent on doing the best I can for Celtic Football Club and hopefully this decision will allow me to really enjoy the final few years of my career."

The former Arsenal forward scored 14 goals in 51 appearances since making his debut for Wales in 1995.

"John has been a great servant of the Wales side for more than a decade," national manager John Toshack said in a statement from the Football Association of Wales. His power in the air made him a potent force and an integral part of the side."

Wales failed to qualify for this year's FIFA World Cup™ finals in Germany.

They begin their UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying campaign in September. They are in Group D with Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, San Marino and Slovakia.

Football / Re: Stern vs Yorke
« on: February 06, 2006, 06:14:46 PM »
Let say we are comparing Yorke at his prime to Stern at his prime... i would give Yorke the lead in all player attributes except three :-

1) Positiong skills (Yorke didn't have to have great positing skills in his prime as Beckham would find him in a crowd, whereas Stern is known to be in the right place at the right time more often than not... whether stern finishes is a different story, but he sure gets his sahre of chances every match because of his uncanny ability to position himself properly).

2) Shot on the turn (Stern could receive the ball with his back to goal, turn and shoot in a fluid motion with the ball scoring ... haven't seen much of that from Yorke)

3) Long distance shooting (Stern could belt it from long distance... only Latas and Birchall I would say are better).

Yorke receive all other props, as his finishing, agility, speed and heading, etc. are all better than Stern when comparing the two at their respective prime.

Here what Vibetrini, at this time you coming on this forum to create assh#@eness between players, with comparing and all kinda shit.

If yuh so want to know who better, bend over and let each of them have a go at yuh , then you could decide, right. (Yuh Damn Jackass!)

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Sweden said Wednesday that it will play Chile for its final warmup for this year's World Cup.

World Cup Groups

Coach Lars Lagerback said Chile was picked for the June 2 game because it has a similar playing style to Trinidad-Tobago, Sweden's opponent in its World Cup opener. It will be the first time the two countries have played each other.

"It is an extra delight to treat the crowd to a completely new opponent, since we have never played them before," Lagerback said.

Sweden also takes on Finland at home on May 25 as its other warmup before going to Germany.

Neither Chile nor Finland qualified for the World Cup, which starts June 9. Sweden plays Trinidad-Tobago in Group B on June 10 in a group also containing England and Paraguay.

Think about it, Peru is a World Cup veteran, are we? People complaining that Peru is ah inconsistant team, but we Soca Warriors supporters complaining about inconsistancy in other teams?..... HELLO? Then what of Iceland? We will be playing Sweden, Iceland ehnt a bad substitute, look at there qualifying record (dont forget we collect 5, from shitty Guatemala).

I believe the disenchantment is more directed at the fact that tnt keeps getting second guessed even with regard to friendlies. The purpose of the friendly is to prepare us to play against a team similar to the opponent in the group. Wales was and still remains a better choice than Iceland for a measure of England. Peru is a satisfactory contender to prepare us for the Paraguay game.

Ulyuh fellahs need to get some hooked on phonics. MrFli, fabien never say Iceland as a warm-up for England, try an read d man post again, dis time borrow yuh Granny reading glasses.

who u referring to, doh ah playing dead tuh catch corbeaux alive

Good one!

But I not listing names of players because true warriors supporters know the type ah players I referring to. But obviously the administrators and coaches like the Corneal Clan, Camps, and the saviour of TTFF himself Uncle Jack, just to name a few.

21
Oh what irony, is funny how so many players (NOT ALL), used to gey we sagga boy attitude when wearing the "Red, White, and Black", having we collecting cut-arse (even in we own back-yard) from side like JA in previous WC qualifiers, yet dey want to be considered again, now that we qualify.

For years, the Soca Warriors have been a stagnant bunch of regurgitated underacheivers sprinkled with a few exceptions. You know the men who does have we bawlin when they pass the ball in the stadium "to who, to who?"

Man I say for many of the players, they have been given too many chances before, infact, some of them damn lucky, or is some administrator's hornchile, cause they used to be playing shit but continued to make the national side in the pass.

All who have failed us, when they had their numerous chances to do better(Players, Coaches, and administrators alike) need to be overlooked. Let us look to the future, and shake off the bad baggage and negative parasites.

You had your chance (more than a few times), so now that Don Leo eh favoring you, HARD LUCK!
You only have yourself to blame.

You make-up your bed so you sleep in it.

p.s.  The list of local players from every little nook and cranny in T&T, who could have been big national players, but never had the opportunities that you had, are many. Tough luck you blew it now move on. Give the youths a chance.

Ah hear yuh but where else can d average working man at home get tickets from? What must he do after waiting 32 years to see his country play 'live' in ah World Cup? Give dem some other options nah?!  ???

Socapro, I appreciate what you are saying, and belive me I have been waiting just like you, some say we is "faithfulistas", whatever, fact is, plenty men taking out loan to buy dem packages. Pro, I want to be there sooo bad it eh funny, and I have the money to be able to afford $5000US, but I am not selling out my principles to support corruption.

If I have to go Germany for the lime before and after games, and watch the games for free on the big screens in the city centers, I will prefer to do that.

Imagine Jack want to represent people in parliament and he soooo blatantly corrupt. No wonder T&T so sick wid crime, d youths have no good examples to follow from the "so called leaders".

We Trinbagonians, need to re-evaluate how we does just conveniently sweep integrity under the carpet when we want something. Dat bad habbit is a big reason why we are reaping what the devil growing today. As the line from the old calypso goes, "We know, We like it so"

Is Rowley taking materials from a hospital project to use in he private project, is Panday and he London account, is Police liming in dey canteen when man getting kill, is airport scandal, man beating dey wife, youths not getting much love, supervision and most of all, good mentors or examples to follow (and I am not talkin bout heroes like Lara, I mean fathers, uncles, and big brothers).

By us buying that man's package, is just perpetuating our demise as a people and a nation.

So I say BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Austin Jack Warner, maybe a FIFA VP, a Politician, a Special Advisor, a Former School Teacher, and a Businessman, and as such has paid his dues ten times over for T&T football, Caribbean football, and Concacaf football.

Yet, with a lavish lifestyle, financed by his FIFA salary and the "bonuses and perks" that come with that influential position, he still wants more power and more money.

I do not mind Jack and his family making a profit from the ticket sales, infact some may argue that he is entitled for all he has done, others may not agree.

My thing is, the same people who he beg to come out and support the warriors and who fill up the stadium, is who he trying to SCREW! Tell me he making 50%, 75%, even 100% mark-up on the tickets, I could live with dat, but that Fvcker want to sell package (some ol motel, ah boil egg for b'fast, and seats where you ha to use binocalars just to see the scoreboard, with ah soca warriors drawers and ah toothbrush-for $30,000 TT), HELLL NOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Just imagine, roughly 10% of the voters on the poll think that I should stay far away from home, and that it like the wild west. My former employer in T&T also spoke to me by telephone and said the same thing in more convincing terms. (He in the process of selling he business and moving to Miami).
Still the 90% majority think that I should go but observe caution and let common sense be my guide (for me - the latter might be hard).
Regardless, I have decided not to go home at this time, I know that some may call me coward or whatever they can come up with but the reality is I want to be comfortable when I go home and the atmosphere does not seem conducive to that (at this time).
The other thing is, most of my family have either died or migrated, and the same goes for most of my friends.I hope I could visit home in the future when hopefully things will be a little bit more under control. If I was young and single with no young children depending on me I would not hesitate, but for me 10% is too much for my little T&T.
You know I might have a big bark on the forum when putting across a point or correcting a distractor (Shotta- Bryan Chattagoon...distractor), but in reality, I prefer to avoid comnfrontation.

Hmmmmm.....

Sentiment?

OR

Cold Harsh Reality?

Let's have a look shall we.

Sentiment:  By that token with regards to Cyd Gray & Atiba Charles.  What about Angus Eve?  Arnold Dwarika?  Leslie Fitzpatrick?  Marlon Rojas?  Brent Rahim, Derek King?  Were they not part of the orginal squad who helped us just get to the Hex?  If we qualify, they should go simply because they born in Trinbago?

So when Whitley refuse to play under BSC and come in under Beenie and take Eve place, what is the difference between Zamora and Samuels doin it?  Purely because they not born here?  Eve had to humble because Whitley is BETTER!  HARSH maybe...but REAL!

Is it not supposed to be the best player and the one that fits in with team chemistry the one who gets selected?  Or should it be that Derek King & Angus and dem should get a bligh because of "length of service"?

Sorry to disappoint allyuh eh, but welcome to the world of football in the new millenium.  It is about ....and listen to this CAREFULLY eh....

WHO CAN BEST HELP THE TEAM WIN?

Corneal and a host of others been wastin down Birchall sayin he not as good as locals we have and the locals should have first pick.  Yet Birchall showin he have qualities none a we "local" players have.  HARSH maybe...but REAL.

If is a choice between a local & foreign who have same ability, I would go with the local yes.  But it eh have no better NATUAL left sided defender or midfielder than J Lloyd Samuel.  And if Beenie find Zamora better than who we have "locally"....who is we to argue?

Again....the coach cares about one thing.  WINNING!  WHO CAN BEST HELP THE TEAM WIN?

I guarantee all a allyuh one ting.  If Zamora should score de goal dat put we through to de World Cup, all dis dotish talk go done.  If J Lloyd score a goal or prevent one dat help we go World Cup.  All dis dotish talk go done.

If yuh want to COMPETE in world football today, you do whatever is necessary to WIN.  Sentiment is fuh Valentine's Day.  Dis eh no Valentine's Day ting we dealin wit.

HARSH maybe...but REAL!

Palos you talkin pure shit! Utter rubbish!

None of we, who against Zamora and Samuels, are against all the foreiners. You apparently need to revisit "hooked on Phonics". We are only upset with the ones who openly dis T&T before, when we approched them.  So how you drag Birchall name in that?

World football today my arse! What d hell you know bout world football today? Who make you the world football pundit? Damn mumbling idot!

Of course the best have to play, we all know that Einstein,  but by bringing in men who suspect in terms of giving their all, you could F-up the little team chemistry that we work so hard to cultivate.

And your point about "what if the two men score? How we will react? So what if they miss the goal that cause we not to go, eh, did you think about that outcome too? Yuh backside!

Palos, how you ever come up with any dispute between foreign and locals I eh know? You see ah monkey on top of another monkey and you start bawlin for Piglets.

You have my sentiments, the harsh reality is that you need to go back and read all the post that you misread before.

By the way, invest in some reading glasses, or hooked on phonics, or you what, just turn off your computer for a few days.
