I have not read all the posts on this issue but this my take on this

Fifa should investigate this because if it is that the Italian made some racists comment to Z Z,then its all hypocritical on Fifa and my reasoning is simple, during the knockout stages of this world cup,the captains of teams playing were all reading out a message about ridding the beautiful game of racism and for the world champions to be flying under the radar on this sucks

Should it prove that it was a case of some racial insult,I will blame Z Z for caving in the man chest, yes he got a red card but I am sure the next time that such an idea came to that Italian`s mind he would remember with agony the pain he felt the previous time such ugliness came past his lips

I still think what he did was wrong but I am not Z Z,I was not in the soup, just looking on

So its up to Fifa to clear this up

The Warriors of this world cup has set the foundation

Its time to build the house....2010

Long live the Soca Warriors

While was winding up my work day on Friday,I was listening to N P R,they did a piece on the songs of the world cup,the first song played was the Warrior anthem,I said to myself, not only have we reached  but we gone clear, all that is needed is to chart the course, the sky is the limit and there are no obstacles

No matter how you shake that bag of goodies fellow Soca Warriors

We have to  take care of our business, there is nothing we can do about England  vs  Sweden,no matter how you analyze, our destiny is still very much in our hands

Our only concern should be taking care of Paraguay and doing so by at least 3 clear of course the more the better

Football / Re: President Richards dines with the “Soca Warriors”
« on: June 13, 2006, 07:10:06 PM »
President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, George Maxwell Richards says he has already cancelled his flight back to his homeland schedule for June 21 because he has full confidence in the “Soca Warriors” advancing to the second round of the 2006 World Cup.
.
 .
“I just wanted to mention the way that you have been able to turn around the world’s media which is now paying serious attention to Trinidad and Tobago and this is because of you and to you we are eternally grateful. I want to extend my heartiest congratulations to each one of you.

I found it extremely difficult to differentiate among any of the players when it came to the man of the match award,” Richards told the players

.
He further added: “We go forward with everything and I had always found that Sweden would be the hardest nut to crack and now that we have done that, then we are definitely  in for the rest to come. We will go forward with or without Rooney with all the confidence and we are all behind the team.

“I have myself taken a decision to change all my travel plans, I had intended to travel back on June 20 but it seems that we will be here either for Stuttgart or Munich for the second round. The team has all the expertise, the talent and the will to progress,” Richards added to TTFF Media.

“What is happening here is we have taken the world by storm. The entire foreign media bombarded the players, the coach and even me today saying that this is indeed a fairy tale story. They cannot understand how we can hold Sweden which has some of the best strikers in the world. That is a victory for us,” Boynes told TTFF Media.

“This has inspired all of Trinidad and Tobago and this is what dreams are made of. The entire German population and other countries are also behind us. Our memorabilia items are among the hottest in Germany today.”

  .
“The players did say they were stunned when the Prime Minister called them on the bus on the way back from the game and they can tell he is excited and motivated by what they have done,” Boynes noted.

And none other than songster Maximus Dan has also conveyed his congrats to the team.
.
“We know it’s going to be a battle on and off the pitch because win, lose or draw, we expect the English fans to be a tough bunch. That really is the only concern for us but even with that, we are prepared to go all out for our team and we want them to know that we will be in the stands screaming for them throughout the match. We want them to know what they have done to us and the country on a whole so far. I wonder if they even realize the extent to which they have caused high emotion among us and we have such a strong belief now that as a country we can progress both on and off the football field,” a pumped up Maximus Dan told TTFF Media.

2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: What the media say Birchall say
« on: June 13, 2006, 04:21:09 AM »
Trust me
He is going to be so pumped up for this game, that to say he would not celebrate is like putting the cart before the horse, man this is his dream come through,in more ways than one,did he ever think he would play in a world cup...no,then cam Lawrence and his dream began, yet that dream seem so far away as the candle flickered and our hopes of even qualifying seem so remote,he scored a vital goal for us on this journey and so we qualified, then came the draw he by his own addmission was overjoyed to know that we had England in our group,so he has a chance to strut his stuff before his own contrymen, man I would be very surprised if he did not celebrate,I would say this much he would be so pumped up that, that celebration would come out of him and he would be surprised that he did... ;D

2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: My Line-up for England minus Avery

...........................shaka..................

sancho...........andrews.........lawrence.........cyd

.........................yorke..........................

edwards...................birchall................aurtis

................john..............glenn...........

if andrews not fit by then drop edwards right back sancho back to the middle

right wing will be taken up by birchall cuz edwards go give some forward support pull aurtis centre and samuel back on the left

in the second half for sure take off samuel cuz he might be bun and put on latapy or wise

take off stern for jones a bigger more poweful player needed as d game opens up

I like the defence especially if Andrews is fit,as we will have to be physical with the English front line,if Rooney gets a run

With the blade man picking up them two yellows and having to miss this game he will be missed,as I would have loved to see him put some hurt on a couple of the English players, which may make them think about what they are about to do rather than taking it for granted

Hear nah talk keep them talking

My team show me they can play some defence, all I want is to see that continue for the rest of the cup,I know we offence go catch up before its all said and done, just remember Fall down about due any day now and Thursday I can see him cashing in,with a double

I think the best thing that happen to the Warriors was them 3 cut ass that we get, cause I tell you our intensity level was up for that Sweden game and only time will support me there, then again maybe Archie look into the crystal ball and see the Warriors future and it looking bright

In the immortal words of a famous Soca Warrior

                      Ah love it

Whitely over Thoebold any day my fellow Warriors

I saw a couple instances where Thoebald, tried to dribble and lost the ball,to me it appeared that the atmosphere was beyond him, after loosing the ball he stood there with his hand on his hips, maybe waiting for his picture to be taking,or was he wondering why the ball was taken away form him, instead of tracking back to at least slow down the forward progress of the ball by Sweden
To me in Whitely we have a more well rounded player in every aspect of the game and judging what he showed when he came on,I would like to see him be the starter instead of Theobald

Big up to the Warriors today

I am impressed

Shaka was boss...his game today should silence all the haters, did anyone see who was the first person to greet him after the game...non other than Jack....that was boss and class.I thought that he was going to hurt Shaka with that bear hug he gave him, then Ince came over and payed respects,I like my team, they played like true Warriors, being down to 10 players

Others who stood out...Sancho played a boss game...Edwards ....Yorke

Jack may have to get use to the fact that he could be riding the bench for some time, after that performance by Shaka today

Give Beenie more respect ...please

Well he reach in style

A true all-rounder is a Windies dream

AS IF Brian Lara's magnificent double century and ascension to the top of Test cricket's run-scorers was not enough to have the tiny village of Santa Cruz jumping in the middle of the night, yesterday its inhabitants were given another reason to party.

His century-making feats in Hobart behind him, exciting all-rounder Dwayne Bravo showed the other reason West Indians — and not just those from him and Lara's native Trinidad — are looking to him as the brightest hope for the future, with a display of pace bowling that should have given the tourists a winning advantage.

That West Indies let Australia recover to take the first innings ascendancy was no fault of Bravo's. Having removed key batsmen Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting on Saturday, Bravo yesterday wrecked Australia's middle order by taking 4-14 in a 26-ball burst straddling the lunch break. Fatigue eventually set in soon after Brett Lee's edge behind had given him 6-64 for the innings, and with Bravo rested, the West Indies lost their way.

Suddenly waking from what must have felt like a dream to find his team trailing on the first innings may have left Bravo feeling somewhat hollow about his contribution, which ended at 6-84 off 27 overs.

At least Bravo will well remember this day. The all-rounder who started out as a batsman took the best figures for a West Indian in Australia since Ian Bishop's 6-40 in Perth in 1992-93. The fact he has also taken 6-55 against England and scored two centuries in only nine Tests give a strong hint he may live up to his billing as a long-awaited quality all-rounder for the West Indies.

At times he has buckled under the weight of that expectation, at others risen maturely to fulfil it. He feared for his future after being sent home from an under-15 regional tournament for a breach of curfew, but later progressed to tour England with West Indies A in 2002. His bowling improved to the point that he was his side's leading wicket-taker in his first Test series, with 16 wickets in four matches in England last year.

Yesterday he bowled with sustained pace and bounce to give his side the advantage. He struck in the day's 20th over by bowling Andrew Symonds between bat and pad. He should have had Adam Gilchrist moments later but saw him dropped on nought by keeper Denesh Ramdin, but soon claimed him to a slash to the covers.

Bravo could have had Shane Warne first ball, and then second ball, only for worthy lbw appeals to be rejected. On his third ball he sent Warne on his way with a superb left-handed caught-and-bowled.

                                        Shaka

        Edwards       Andrews            Lawrence           Avery

        Whitley            Yorke           Birchell         Samuels

                                       Latapy

                                                  John

I know I will get some stick for Edwards playing wing back but I think he Whitley needs to start also and will provide good cover when Edwards  overlaps plus Whitley is a good physical presence

Football / Re: LATAPY IS DE KEY!!!!!
« on: June 03, 2006, 06:02:44 PM »
I will agree with bringing him on later on in the game when the opposition has lost some of its edge but looking at it now how much sense that would make if you are down 2 or 3 goals

Latapy needs to be starting as he represents a calming quality to this team, come Saturday there will be a lot of nevous players on the pitch,Latapy has a vision of play which is absent when he is not on the field,Dwight has done a good job to date but he is not a midfield general

Latapy needs to start and in the midfield, once we have settled down,at that point Dwight can move forward to his true position and play off Stern

1015
Lessons learned will be evident come Saturday

Failing to pay attention to what should have been grasped and you will be exposed and not just to a few but to millions

Have faith

The good in all of this is that it will not affect the standings of the first round, just remember the game will not be played here but on the pitch

Go Warriors.......1.6 million strong

Waggonist, purest, realist, haters,do gooders,intellectuals..from the president to the pauper....all supporting the Warriors,so just go out and play like warriors and give us something to smile and talk about, give us some pleasant memories, give us a foundation to build upon for 2010

Win or loose does not matter its all about how we play the game
We must show improvment from them two backward steps that we take over the past week
We must play Warrior defence, one good sign will be not allowing any early goals, which will allow our players to get a riddim going,if this happens we will have some confidence come the 10th

Football / Re: Who was and still is the best striker
« on: June 02, 2006, 04:18:53 AM »
Yorke without a doubt
Many would say that Dwight played with better players and that sould seal the deal right there
If Fall down (Stern)was as good as some think he would have staked his claim in the Premiereship and thus played with better players so we could a better discussion as to who is the better striker, Dwight played at a higher level for many years, which in my opinion refined his abilities...where as Fall down could only dream about that level....a next issue is who did Fall dwon score all his goals against....it a big difference between club and country...true....however I would think that most club sides that Dwight played against and scored are much better than the countries that Fall down played against and scored....just my two pennies
