Football / Re: Sunderland pull T&T captain from USA match.

Yorke has always done this to TT,I remember quite clearly when he was at Villa,I saw him play for 80 minutes,he had an exceptional game without the slightest signs of injury. He was substituted and the report next day stated that he picked up an injury, the fact is he was about to represent TT in a WC match so he was not allowed to go to TT.The following Saturday he promptly played for Villa without the slightest sign of an injury.I have seen him do it over and over.
York had one good reaso for wanting to represent TT in the run up to 2006 and that was to showcase himself for the EPL once again,Yorke never really wanted to stay in Australia.Yorke used TT to get to Sunderland.I hope we totally forget him now.He has done it many times before.

I am surprised that Yorke was taken away from Trinidad duties on Wednesday. The likelihood is that he would be on the bench, how can that be right when TT is about to play such an important match.Keene has totally disrespected the whole of Trinidad and Tobago and see us as nothing, other managers are the same, for this reason I admire Maturana for using home based players and not pandering to the overseas players.I have always believed that we have never got the best out of our overseas players and this last act of pulling out of such a match is,to say the least, very surprising.Dwight has done everything that he could possibly do on a football field, why couldn't he put up some sort of fight against such an un-educated man like Keene,he was selected for 2 matches and that should have been the case. What is worse is that he may not even play on Saturday for Sunderland.I still feel that we can get a point or even beat the USA,we are now without,HYLAND,WHITLEY,AVERY AND YORKE but I still feel we would survive,I also feel that Yorke could or should have stayed for this match.Keene was out of order and Yorke should have had nothing to fear, its not like he is now making his way in the game,he has seen it and done it,he's been here and there and does not have to depend on Sunderland.I doubt if Maturana would call him back again.

I have been waiting for years to see us beat the USA and although we are without certain players there is no doubt that the SocaWarriors are playing good enough to beat anybody in CONCACAF.Lets do it in their own backyard....score,USA 1   TT 2.Edwards and Glen.

Any given day,but not 4-0.Money is a big factor in US football and if our league carry on with the development that is quite visible we would be better than you by far.We play football with heart, soul, love and technique, yall play with ah rule book in one hand.In the hands of foreigners your football is OK but at grassroots ah not too sure, yuh women are OK though.

We know that the English like their players to run and run but they had Erickson and now Capello both foreign, very few teams play immobile men as strikers nowadays.Chelsea with one of the best midfields have strikers who always run.

Football / Scrappy match.
« on: August 30, 2008, 05:51:13 AM »
During the Guatemala vs USA match I got the idea that Guatemala was playing superior football  and was lookingb as if they could beat anybody in CONCACAF,I was led to believe this by some of the posts.I read the report eventually and it turned out that it was a very scrappy and very physical match that saw two players sent off for violent play. Before the match heavy rains made the pitch very heavy and therefore good passing and skillful play was absent for most of the game.I see no reason why this Guatemala team should come to TT and try to "rough up"our players as they did to the US players,if we play the game we are capable of and dont fall for their game plan we will surely beat them.Yorke's presence in midfield will make all the difference, with him pulling the strings in the middle the Guatemalans would have to be extremely carefull, their situation is not to good ,no points and not wanting another loss.We just have to sit back and wait for them to leave some routes open.We winning this one.

Trinidad football teams should never need anyone to tell them about complacency after the USA beat we in1989 to qualify for Italy. That was Trinidad at their complacency best.I am sure we have learnt that very, very, very sad lesson on that fateful day,19th November 1989.

Its going to be interesting when Scotland is fully fit and scoring goals, assuming Glen is still scoring and is still first choice and Roberts second.I still wonder about Collin Samuel on the left side and feel sure he would be good for us.

I now feel that I have to concede this arguement is a lost cause on my part judging by how everyone seems to agree with you...Tallman,fair enough you win on this MB.I now get the feeling that the majority of people do not want Maturana and Corneal to carry on with the job of trying to take us to SA,if that is the case, what is your considered opinion. In my humble opinion Maturana  and to a lesser extent Corneal should remain in their present positions, but thats me.Maybe you are aware of more info than I am coz I live in England and may not always have all the facts.REGARDS.
