Sir Ellis ‘coming along slowly’

Former President Sir Ellis Clarke is expected to remain at the Intensive Care Unit at West Shore Medical, Cocorite this weekend as he recovers from a stroke on Wednesday morning. Sir Ellis’ son Peter disclosed that in a brief interview with the Guardian yesterday. He said Sir Ellis was alone at his Federation Park residence when he called family members, complaining of not feeling well. Peter said the doctor was alerted and Sir Ellis was taken for medical attention.
He said Sir Ellis is in the care of Drs Winston Ince and Ron Henry. Several tests have been conducted and are being assessed. He said only close family members have been visiting Sir Ellis because of his condition. He said Sir Ellis was being fed and was aware of his environment. Peter said Sir Ellis is being advised to take it easy. “He is coming along slowly,” he added.

Bishop Mendes dead so the next man to call is Fadda Taylor. I believe he preaching at La Lune RC these days.

Ent Elan?

But I won't doubt this story at all.

Anyhoo this part of the article had me stunned.

Solomon believes the demons were released during the Divali pooja (Hindu prayer) at the school. "I think the man (pundit) did something wrong and released bad spirits. I think the spirits are looking for souls, but I know what to do and they not getting my child," he said.
Pundit Bramdeo Maharaj, former president of the Inter-Religious Organisation, insisted that the children were not possessed by demons.

"If the pundit made an error, the Lord would not punish the children. If the pundit did something wrong, he would be punished. So to say that something went wrong in the pooja is baseless. Maybe someone brought in sweets to the function and they were not good. That needs to be investigated," he said.
Maharaj said God will not punish children for a pundit's mistake.

Soooooooo all the sweetie neighbor and dem bringing for we after dey divali prayers and we eating like it's juss come, how do we chupid people know what good and what's not?  Because to tell you the truth, I've never seen none of my east Indian neighbors eat dere sweets.

I have a friend from Reduit, Gros-Islet and up to now, no contact with her and her family. I ain't too worry, cause they in south of Lucia and most of the destruction happened in north of....  I tell ya, Trinidad and Tobago taking things for granted.

Hurricane Tomas kills 12 in St Lucia
Death toll could climb

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/Hurricane-Tomas-kills-12-in-St-Lucia

CASTRIES, St Lucia – At least 12 people were confirmed dead and several communities across the St Lucia remained cut off today following widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Tomas over the weekend.
Government said that the damage caused by the storm could surpass US$100 million.

The southern town of Vieux-Fort was among the worst hit by the Category One storm, while five bodies including those of the owners of a popular craft shop in Soufriere, recovered from the wreckage of their homes that were hit by landslides.
“I would say to you right now we have 12 confirmed dead…unfortunately there are still people who are buried….,” Tourism Minister Allan Chastanet said on local radio.
He said that the roads to the town, where the famous Piton Mountains and the world’s only drive in volcano are located, are impassable and that the death toll could rise further.
Prime Minister Stephenson King had earlier said that an American visitor whose named was not disclosed, drowned on a north east coast beach while a 31 year-old woman died after her vehicle ran off the road and fell down a  precipice.
King said he had taken an aerial survey of the storm damage and it is clear that there had been extensive damage.
“From the air, the southern town of Vieux Fort appeared to have received the brunt of Tomas’s fury and we will have to go into this area which was still blocked by landslides and virtually inaccessible to carry out a more detailed account of the damage,” he added.
Prime Minister King said that there were other persons missing from the town and that search and rescue teams were in the affected area.
“Soufriere is devastated, everyone is locked in and no one can leave or get in by road or by phone, so that there are persons who need help but cannot be reached,” the Prime Minister noted.
“It’s not just a question of clearing these roads because there are sections of the network that have completely disappeared so that we are just going to have to find another way in and out of the town,“ he said.
King said that a preliminary assessment of the damage caused by Tomas suggested that it was likely to cost the country in excess of US$100 million.
He said he had already contacted the United States government and Work Bank which had requested that measures be put in place to sources the emergency funding.

STEUPS!! is plenty of scammers out there. This is another one in Canada

August 10,2010 Alberta, Canada]--------

23 year old Ashley Anne Kirilow, of Alberta, Canada, have been lying about having cancer for 2 long years in order to scam people out of thousands of dollars.According to ABC News, Ms. Kirilow would still be faking her illness while milking folks for money, if her father hadn't caught on to the callous scam.Mr. Kirilow told ABC News,"When I found out that she was taking people's money and it wasn't going to the University of Alberta as she had specified, it made me sick to my stomach." He and some of the duped donators later filed a police report, when his daughter refused to come clean.Since 2008, after a benign lump had been found in her breast, Ashley has been telling everyone she had breast cancer while collecting money from generous donators.

Her story has changed several times and the breast cancer evolved into brain, liver and ovarian cancer. The report stated that the young woman shaved her head and starved herself to look every bit the cancer patient and fool her supporters. She even scammed her mother, father and step-mother. The father said he became suspicious when Alice begged for money for chemotherapy. Canada's healthcare system pays for such treatments.A musician friend, 22 year old Adam Catley, said he even got her a free place to live and organised benefit concerts where everyone donated $20 towards her medical bills. Volunteers at a bogus cancer facility she created called Cancer For Change, alleged that Kililow collected more than $20,000. in donations. Many good samaritans supported her cause, including local businesses, concerts and skateboarding events. A local charity even sent her to Disney World, says the report. She allegedly told everyone tht the money donated was going towards cancer research at the University of Alberta.Ms. Kililow is currently in police custody and some medical experts say she may be suffering from Anti Social Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. She apparently spent all the money she stole, because at her arrest, she was $30,000 in debt.

Top 10 Female Leaders

Trinidad Elects Its First Female Prime Minister
By: MADISON GRAY (90 days ago)

Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister-elect Kamla Persad-Bissessar

The twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, known for warm beaches and its wild annual Carnival celebration, could now be known for breaking glass ceilings because of its election of its first female prime minister.

Voters elected United National Congress candidate Kamla Persad-Bissessar, 58, to the position after Patrick Manning of the People's National Movement conceded defeat. in Manning called this round of elections a month ago in response to a "no-confidence" motion against him for what has been seen as flagrant government spending. The PNM has had a stronghold on Trinidadian politics for nearly 50 years, and kept Manning in power for 13 of them.

Kamla Persad-Bissessar's UNC galvanized a multi-ethnic coalition of parties in order to seize a majority 29 of 41 parliamentary seats, giving them control of the oil and natural gas-rich nation's government. The country's resources have made it an economic leader in the Caribbean region and its ties to the United States are not expected to change. Coalition leaders have said they will pursue more strategic ties with Brazil once the new administration is in place.

Still the prime minister-elect will have to contend with the problems Manning is leaving behind. Last year, the nation became the murder capital of the Caribbean, with homicides up 38%. She will also have to quickly address corruption issues in government projects that have dogged her predecessor for years.
