So Venezuela is 5 miles at the closest point from Trinidad.  Why cant we invite them or go there and play a friendly?  If money is he problem, how far is Columbia, Panama?  Tired of all the excuses from the TTFF.

Saw the game yesterday and was not surprised. Venezuela has been improving over the years and I actually thought that they were playing well through the Copa. They contained Messi and took the game to Argentina. They have some very skillful midfielders and strikers and their defenders are solid.
I will not be surprised if they challenge for a spot this rounds.
well yes

That would make too much sense. The mistake you're making is that you are assuming that logical individuals exist within the TTFF.

Still though, Spain has another gear.

The field looks horrible compared to the condition it was in when Brazil visited a few weeks ago.

Imagine Costa Rica held Spain to a draw. Well maybe it was a blessing in disguise that we did not make it into the next rounds. Hope is the flame that burns brightly in the eternal breast. Well that is my hope with the Olympic team.  Come on Angus show them what a local coach can do?

Granted. But the difference between this result and our latest results is still very notable.

Football is a funny game...teams like Spain cannot just show up and expect to win games by default anymore. Costa Rica would have been very motivated for this game, Spain, perhaps just wanting to play easy football for the public. I recall USA beating Brazil 1-0 many years ago in the USA, Jamaica holding Brazil twice to 0-0 ties in ties in the past as well, and i think Honduras also beat Brazil, Mexico beat Spain in Mexico city etc.

It played out as Spain holding Costa Rica to a draw ... and the Spanish equalizer could have been disallowed by another referee.

The TTFF needs to get a calender so it could boost ticket sale.

But then again, by the 6th of this month, they might file bankruptcy.

Teams need games, Euro 2012, World Cup qualifiers and Caribbean Cup coming soon.

Ah feel de Finland game might be off, de TTFF curse still exsist.

US beat Italy in Italy.
« Reply #448 on: February 29, 2012, 06:51:56 PM »
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/soccer-dirty-tackle/u-beat-italy-first-time-ever-did-italy-215145375.html

There were chants of "USA" in Genoa, Italy, as the U.S. beat Italy for the first time ever in Wednesday's friendly. Clint Dempsey continued the season of his career by scoring the match's only goal in the 55th minute with a great setup from Jozy Altidore. The U.S. then withstood a barrage of shots from the Italians to hold on for the biggest win in their first 10 matches under new manager Juergen Klinsmann. And they were able to do it even with Landon Donovan unable to play due to illness.

When the U.S. last faced Italy, it lost convincingly by a score of 3-1 in the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa before going on to shock the world by beating top-ranked Spain. In the group stage of the 2006 World Cup, which Italy went on to win, the U.S. took a 1-1 draw against the Azzurri thanks to a Cristian Zaccardo own goal.

[Related: Keeper scores insane own goal]

Dempsey's goal made him just the fourth American to ever score against Italy and the first to do it from the run of play (i.e., not a penalty) in the last 20 years. It was also the first time the U.S. achieved an away win against a team that has won a World Cup. And since the Americans did it while debuting their new dark blue away kit, they might have just found a new good luck charm.

Though it was only a friendly, Italy are coming off an undefeated Euro 2012 qualifying campaign where they scored 20 goals in 10 matches and allowed just two. To get a first victory over Italy and a rare win on European soil will surely be a confidence builder for the U.S. as it starts looking towards its friendly against Brazil on May 30 and the World Cup qualifiers beyond that.
