Gary Glasgow and Arnold Dwarika joins Joe Public.

Glasgow & Dwarika join Joe Public.
By: Ian Prescott (Express).
[/size]

Former Trinidad and Tobago national team footballers Gary Glasgow and Arnold Dwarika will put on Joe Public jerseys when the 2006 T&T Pro League season kicks off next month. Along with the two local standouts, the "Eastern Lions" once more have the five Jamaicans who they have on loan from Jamaican club Portmore United. They have also contracted three Brazilian Under-21 players and two Colombians as well.
Coach Michael McComie says that his "hand-picked squad" has also seen the return of 20-year-old Brazilian left back Leandro Moncao who was in their 2005 National Super League championship winning squad.
Also in the squad are local players such as former Hibernian midfielder Lyndon "Chubby" Andrews and Dale Saunders.
Joe Public are back in the Pro League for the first time in two seasons after owner Jack Warner pulled them out a few years ago after disagreeing with how the League was being run. McComie feels that his chances of landing silverware in 2006 are fairly good. He thinks that of all the teams in the Pro League, his squad has the greatest depth in quality.
Last season's top scorers Roen Nelson and Carlington Smith have returned along with their Jamaican national team-mates Wolry Wolfe, Adrian Mitchell and goalkeeper Jacinto Barrett.
"We have a high level of fitness right now because the Jamaicans have just returned from playing in the Concacaf Champions Cup with Portmore United. What we are doing now is just getting everyone playing together," McComie said. Joe Public will start to fine tune their programme with a series of friendly matches starting today when they take on the Trinidad and Tobago national under-21 team from 4 p.m. at the Marvin Lee Stadium. The the deadline for the transfer of players before the start of the 2006 season on April 8, has now been extended to March 31.
Meanwhile, the Trinidad and Tobago Pro League have given three new applicants until tomorrow to submit their final proposals for entry into the 2006 Professional League which starts on April 8.
Superstar Rangers, WASA Clean and White and Starworld Strikers are vying for two vacant places which will bring the compliment of teams to ten.
Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene said, "They have to prove they have proper administrative structure and show they have proper funding which will allow them to pay their players."
He added also that teams need a secure playing field; a youth development programme and to pay administrative fees as well.

I would love to know who is de Brazilian Under-21 players and the two Colombians. Jack Warner love them Jamaicans and they hate T&T....

2006 will be wicked !!!!!!!! 4 top teams... maybe 5....

Jabloteh, Connection, Superstar Rangers, Joe Public and Caledonia. The league just got better. The CONCACAF Cup will be interested to. Defence Force and North East Stars might do good to.

Arnold is one talented player but it is so sad to see how drinks :beermug: and bad attitude/company could mess yuh up! He used to dominate from young age all rounder even playing as goalie. Why can't we not let our skills get into our heads. He should have been starting on this world cup squard! Sad Story!

All these comments people making and nobody talking about the lack of local talent on the squad?  Is it okay for a fledgling league like ours in a country which is trying to improve its standard of local players to have a starting 11 of 8 or 9 foreigners?

iI read on football a forum a while back that in columbia that every club team should have an under 21 player in thier starting line up. SO that means they have to seach and  develop at least two players. But joe public should have at least a few under 21 players or fringe under 21 players in thier squad.

Mexico has the same rule.  An U-21 player must be on the field at all times.
