The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), in association with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) will be holding a National Heritage Exhibit in May, highlighting this country’s history of World Cup Qualification attempts.
The Exhibit will feature Trinidad and Tobago’s qualification efforts, from Independence in 1962 through the triumph of the Soca Warriors for Germany 2006. The work of Trinidad and Tobago Referees, who officiated at USA ’94, France “98 and Korea-Japan ’06, will also be on display, along with the Trinidad and Tobago administrative inputs to successful World Cup Final Competitions. The Exhibit will also feature a brief history of the FIFA World Cup, from the first Tournament in Uruguay 1930, to the present.
NALIS, and the Federation, are seeking the assistance of former footballers, coaches, administrators and fans in collecting material for display in the Exhibit. The items being sought are: Team or Individual photographs, Posters, News Articles, Team Pennants, Team Jerseys, Video material, and other items relevant to the several World Cup Qualification Campaigns.
Persons who may be in possession of any of this important historical data are asked to contact Peter O’Connor, at the office of TT GERMANY 2006 LTD., 103 St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain- Telephones: 624-2668, 627-4137, or 745-3750. Photographs, newspaper clippings and video material will be copied for display in the Exhibit and the originals returned to the owners. Shirts, pennants and flags will be returned to their owners at the close of the Exhibit. This Football Heritage Exhibit will run from May 12 2006, through the whole of the World Cup Finals in Germany, ending on 10 July 2006.
