At the Center of Excellence, despite there were no goals, the fans were delighted with an entertaining affair, as the top two teams provided end to end action—and the match could have gone either way.
North East Stars may consider themselves unlucky in the first half—as right winger Leslie Holigan missed two clear chances, which he hit wide, while in the 2nd period of play Joe Public came into their own, but in the 65th minute Lyndon Andrews muffed a good chance—and just before the final whistle, Public’s Jamaican striker Roen Nelson cracked a shot from on top the 18 yard box that cannoned against the upright. Both teams settling for a point each.
At the Ato Boldon Stadium—Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA Fire battled back from a goal down to earn a 2-1 win over Defence Force.
The Army opened the scoring in the 35th minute through a Devon Jorsling strike—but the spirited Caledonia came storming back with strikes from Kendall Jagdeosingh (46th) and Ryan Stewart hit the winner in the 48th.
In the 2nd game of a double header—Jabloteh took the opportunity to regain some ground on Joe Public—as the San Juan based outfit edged San Fernando Starworld Strikers 1-0—thanks to a 59th minute item by Lester Peltier.
Jabloteh going to 23 points joint with the ‘Eastern Lions, but Mike Mc Commie’s team still hold a healthier goal average.
Down at the Palo Seco Recreation ground, it was another tight encounter as the defending champs W Connection secured a vital three points, coming away 1-0 winners over United Petrotrin—player of the month Andre Toussaint got the lone item for Connection.
