North East stay in winners row.

The ‘Sangre Grande Boys’ had to come from a goal down to defeat Caledonia AIA Fire at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground—in the end it was two second half strikes within minutes of each other from Charles Pollard and Nigel Codrington which secured maximum points for North East Stars and see them going second on the standings just one point behind leaders San Juan Jabloteh.
It was the ‘Men from Morvant’ that broke the deadlock in the 38th minute—a beauty of a free kick from Randafah Abu Bakr—he struck a direct free kick from some 25 yards out, blasting a screamer that breached the Sangre Grande wall—sending Caledonia AIA 1-0 ahead.
Caledonia carried that lead into the dressing rooms at the half and would have been feeling pretty good about themselves up to that point.
However, North East was not going to let their fans down—skipper Charles Pollard headed in an equalizer in the 74th minute from a left sided free kick.
And before the ball could have settled into play again—one minute later it was a superb individual effort from Guyanese striker Nigel Codrington, as he weaved his way past the Caledonia defence to shoot home the winner—sending the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground into tumultuous celebrations.
North East coming away 2-1 winners—and taking away full points—they move to 28 points, just one behind Jabloteh who lead the standings on 29 points.
