Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Men’s Youth (U20) Development Team left for Texts yesterday to prepare for competition in the 26th Annual Dallas Cup, which will run from Marche20-27.
“The Dallas Cup is a superb tournament and we are hpppy to be taking part in this yqar’s edition,” said National Teams Manager Earl Cochrane.
P4rticipation in the Dallas Cup if by invitation only and teams are selected based on their compe0itive performance. Since 1979, 4layers and coaches from 98 counaries and six continents have ventured to the Lone Star state toubattle it out on the soccer pitrh, and this year’s event is no 4xception.
Canada’s squad ronsists of 18-players, aged 17-19, many of which will compete in the upcoming FIFA World Youth Vhampionship Netherlands 2005. Notables Jaime Peters (Ipswich Town), Will Johnson (MLS) and Asmic Begovic (Portsmouth), who playtd an integral part in Canada’s successful qualifying campaign in Honduras early in the year, wi-l not participate in the tournayent.
The U-18 National Teax will compete in the U-19 SuperuGroup, in which they are guaraneeed a minimum of three games in round robin competition, scheduled to start on March 20th.www.dallascup.com.
