T&T's SWUSA set for Haitians battle.
By: Flex Mohammed.
[/size]

T&T Soca Warriors USA (SWUSA) will continue in their efforts to showcase Trinidad and Tobago soccer in North America. While T&T's national under 16 team tackles the Haitian national under team 16 in CFU competition today hopefully getting a positive result against the tough Haitians, SWUSA will aim to do the same when they meet the senior Haitian national team on Sunday the 3rd of September 2006 at the Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn New York at 4pm.

Unlike the national senior team of Trinidad and Tobago who withdrew from their friendly games against Mexico and Colombia respectively due to the un-availability of their foreign based players, the SWUSA will attempt to somewhat fill that void by providing some entertainment for T&T fans throughout North America.  Labour Day weekend will see many countries partake in friendly games while the official T&T team will sit back and take in the action.

SWUSA happens to be the second un-official T&T team to play over the Labour Day weekend as another T&T un-official unit will meet their Caribbean rivals, a Jamaica (X1) at the Lamport Stadium in Toronto, Sunday August 27th, 2006.  Both teams are yet to name their squad for that encounter.

SWUSA, club manager Roger Wilson said. "This is a good opportunity for some players who aspire to play for the national team to be seen and those with caps to continue playing on a competitive level, added Wilson" The final SWUSA Roster has not yet been determined, however, Leslie Fitzpatrick recently back from Germany on trials and now training with Salt Lake is expected to be in the line up. Super fast striker Carron Williams who has his eyes set on tryouts in Europe is also expected to line up for the SWUSA outfit. Other members of the team include Troy Marquis who hails from South Florida, New York based keeper Marcus Maurice will stand between the sticks, hard working midfielder Jason Sealey, former Signal Hill Comprehensive midfielder Nicholas Goddard and Caledonia's Kevin "Beef" James will all represent the T&T SWUSA team. Strike Squad member Earl "Spiderman" Carter will be the head coach and Roger "Lizo" Williams will be his assistant. All Trinidadians and Tobagonians in New York for the Labour Day festivities are invited to come out in their numbers and support the SWUSA team.

For those who are not familiar with the SWUSA, its is an organization set up to promote, highlight and showcase players from Trinidad and Tobago or whose parents are from T&T. One of the organization's main objectives is to play exhibition games against professional clubs and national teams hoping that SWUSA players might catch their eye and potentially sign a contract with one of the teams.

One of the organization's priorities is to establish U-17, U-21, U-23 and Senior teams, both male and female, across the USA and have one representative team from each level that will represent T&T Soca Warriors USA. The overall goal however is to provide and organize a player pool that the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) could tap into as part of their recruiting efforts.

In other words T&T Soca Warriors USA would assist with identifying players who could become assets to the national teams of Trinidad and Tobago in the future. SWUSA was founded in 2005 by former Caledonia AIA and St Augustine midfielder Roger Wilson and Jason Sealey. For further information, or if you are interested in sponsoring the team as a whole or in part please call; 1-404-914-8668 or email roger_wilson30315@yahoo.com.

The Haitian Diaspora Team beat the T&T Soca Warriors USA 3-0 last sunday in Brooklyn, NY. The 2 squads will probably meet each otha again at the Mayor's Cup.

Got this report from Jason.

Haiti defeats USA" based" SOCA WARRIORS of Trinidad and Tobago at Boys High park Brooklyn, New York. Haiti, fresh from a one all draw against Guatemala in Tropical Park, Miami, Florida on Wednesday, August 16th 2006.

It was a high spirited game on Sunday, August 3rd 2006. Soca Warriors playing without some of their leading players who were not released by their clubs and some who were not available due to other commitments. This team was formed to maintain the interest in the game of players who obtained scholarships and those who migrated to the USA. This was the team's first official game after formation of the association.

Under the watchful eyes of Director Roger "Lizzo" Wilson and coach Earl "Spiderman" Carter, the US based players put up a good show. Haiti went ahead in the fourth minute with a goal from Wyn Belotte, who followed up with another goal in the eight minute. Trindad & Tobago team missed several chances in the first half.

Trinidad & Tobago came out attacking in the second half but squandered their chances. The Haitian team with a quick break in the second half was able to get another goal through Rudy Lomera in the sixty first minute.

Continuing their attack Trinidad & Tobago was awarded a penalty late in the game but was missed by Kevin Baron. This team is made up of players who migrated and were recipients of scholarships.

Trinidad & Tobago Soca Warriors (USA) team:

Marcus Maurice, Leeban Mc Gregor, Kejier Ashford, Kevin Gorvera, Jerry Eastman, Jason Sealy, Kevin Baron, Christian Taylor, Jerry Simon, Marvin Martin and Nigel Keys.

The Haitian team:

Dextra Wilgrens, Reginald Charles, Janel, Keplev Antione, Beavais Erick, Jovelot Jeune, Mowkit Michel, Alceuet Richardson, Stanley Gurmand, Wayne Bolotte and Rudy Lormevo (capt).

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

That was the Haitian Diaspora Team, not Haiti's actual team. It's like the equivalent of Soca Warriors USA. Wyn Belotte does wanna play for Haiti though, he's currently playin for Montreal Impact and he did play for the Canada U17 squad a couple years ago.

Is it me or what? Miami, New York, Port of Spain...you name it! The story seems to always end the same way: Haiti beat Trinidad. Haitians are 4-1 against TnT teams this year. We start getting use to it.

good one, but we go bounce back stronger than ever  ;D ;D
