‘Compre’ double over Fatima.
By: Kwame Williams (Guardian).

Mucurapo pulled off the double over its neighbour school Fatima, beating the 2005 Intercol winner 3-1 yesterday at Fatima Grounds, Mucurapo.
“Compre,” as the defending North Zone champion is known, is now almost sure to retain its crown, as the victory saw it move 10 points clear of the pack with five matches left to be played.
Strikes from Ricardo Peltier, Kevon Piper and an own-goal from Fatima keeper Adrian Foncette accounted for the winner’s three tallies, while Jevon Morris got Fatima’s late consolation.
On the opening day of the season, “Compre” edged its rival 3-2, with Peltier and Piper each scoring a goal.
The team’s were evenly matched for most of the first half, but Peltier gave his side the lead in the 40th, flicking a low centre into the box from the left flank over the head of a seemingly baffled Foncette.
Fatima looked eager to get an equaliser at the start of the second half, keeping “Compre” pinned in its half for the early part of the period.
The boys in blue and gold were unable to make the pressure count though and the absence of influential players Kieran Marin, Brendon Balbosa and Marvin James was more than evident.
They were made to pay for their lack of precision in front of goal in the 62nd minute, when national Under-16 player Jean Luc Rochford, who was unusually ineffective yesterday, miscontrolled the ball in centre of the park.
This allowed midfielder Khaleem Highland to thread a pass through to Piper, who beat Foncette comprehensively from close range.
“Compre” got its third in the 75th, when Foncette let an intended cross from Highland slip through his fingers and into the goal.
Morris cleverly headed a well-delivered cross from defender Sheldon Bateau past Mucurapo goalie Denzil Cazabon in the 75th, giving the home team some hope. It was not to be for Fatima, however.
Naps gets sixth win, Pres puts in five.

In the South, Naparima College registered its sixth victory on the trot with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Vessigny at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella. Striker Nigel Wright scored in the 80th minute, to give “Naps” full points from the encounter. Naparima has a maximum 18 points in the seven-team standings and look certain to land another zonal title.
In the second match of the double header, Presentation defeated St Benedicts 5-0.
Moruga Composite, with a double from Anwar Julien (75th, 85th) defeated Fyzabad 3-0.
National Under-16 striker Daniel Joseph was the hero for the “Green Machine” of St Augustine Senior Comprehensive, who continued marching towards the East Zone title yesterday.
Joseph got a first half goal, which secured a valuable 1-0 win for the Michael Grayson-coached St Augustine over third place El Dorado Senior Comprehensive at El Dorado, yesterday. With the win, the “Green Machine” improved to 19 points after six matches, while “El Do” slipped to third, still with 13 points, but from seven matches.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

I would never have thought I would have lived to see the day where Pres did the double over Benedict's in a season. I still can't believe it!
