No relief for QRC, CIC.

The Queen's Royal College crusade to move clear of the relegation zone took another hit yesterday when they drew 1-1 away to St Mary's College at Serpentine Road in the Championship Division North Zone of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League yesterday.
QRC threw away not only a 1-0 advantage early in the first half of the fixture, but a barrage of chances to put the match beyond the home team, and were lucky themselves not to be upstaged when they wobbled at the back.
Ironically, it was the CIC support that seemed the more sparse, as QRC fans filled the stands, and occupied larger spaces around the playing field.
From as early the ninth minute the Royalians had the ascendency, Jerrel Britto firing past goalkeeper Michael Amoroso to open their account.
St Mary's kept plugging away for the equaliser, but were given little room to manoeuvre through the QRC defence. Their persistence paid off however, with Renaldo Garcia finding the mark in the 31st, to leave the teams locked at 1-1 at the break.
The second period was more wasteful than the first, especially for QRC. Franz Husbands up front for the Royalians was not having a good match, and it got worse for him after the interval.
Keron Doldron and Husbands up front for QRC must have been surprised at the number of chances they were getting, as they failed to make CIC pay for loose marking.
In the end, neither team left the match better off than before the opening whistle, and they must hope they fare better when they meet their next opponents.
