Naparima widens lead in South Zone.
By: Vinode Mamchan (Guardian).

Naparima College widened the gap at the top of the standings in the BGTT SSFL South Zone championship, with a 5-0 beating of former Southern giants St. Benedicts College.
The win took Naps to 24 points from eight matches - maintaining a one hundred winning record.
Sherrick Hilaire opened the scoring in the 45th minute. Gogel Wright scored soon after half time. and in the 52nd minute Cion Samuel made it 3-0.
Two late strikes by Renato Ramlochan (84th) and Shaddon Winchester 90th, sealed the issue.
Princes Town overtook Presentation College for second spot after a 4-0 trashing of neighbours Moruga. A double by Andre Quashie in the 35th and 72nd and further goals by Keston Hughes and Jesse Edwards were enough to bring victory and displace ‘Pres’ in the standings.
Princes Town now has 17 points from eight matches and ‘Pres’ 16, with a game in hand.
In the Southwest peninsula, Vessigny won the battle of the table proppers, getting past Fyzabad 2-0. Vessigny by virtue of the win moves on to eight points and into fifth place.

Akeen Lynch scores hattrick for “El Do”
By: Rachael Thompson-King (Guardian).

A 3-0 win over Hillview College by St Augustine Senior Comprehensive at home yesterday keeps the “Green Machine” prospect of reclaiming the East Zone league title very likely.
St Augustine goals came from Glynn Franklyn, Anthony Moses and Christon Mark.
The “Green Machine” is at the head of the standings with 28 points, four more than San Juan Secondary Comprehensive (24 point), who also secured a huge win over Arima Senior Comprehensive, 10-2.
Three players—Elijah Manner, Neil Mitchell and Hayden John— each netted a double to lead San Juan’s scoring attack after leading 3-1 at the half in a match that was played in Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan.
The other goals were scored by Joel Russell, Jonathon Romaine, Kareem Jirod and Anthony Guppy.
For Arima, who is in last place in the zone, Khalid Claude and Kellon Malchan scored the goals.
At El Dorado, the host, behind a hattrick from Akeen Lynch in the first half, defeated Toco 4-1.
“El Do” final item was scored by Kerry Latapy.
Malabar Composite was not in action as it was on a bye.

Results

St Augustine 3 (Glynn Franklyn, Anthony Moses, Christon Mark) v Hillview 0.

San Juan 10 (Elijah Manner 2, Neil Mitchell 2, Hayden John 2, Joel Russell, Jonathon Romaine, Kareem Jirod, Anthony Guppy) v Arima 2 (Khalid Claude, Kellon Malchan).

El Dorado 4 (Akeen Lynch 3, Kerry Latapy) v Toco 1.
Mucurapo within sight of retaining title.
By: Kwame Williams (Guardian).

Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive is one point away from its third successive North Zone title, following victory over QRC yesterday at Fatima Ground, Mucurapo, its eighth win of the British Gas Secondary Schools Football season.
Goals on either side of the half from Al Mohammed (41st) and Khaleem Highland (65th) were enough to give “Compre” another triumph.
A draw against Malick on Saturday will be enough to see the zonal leader repeat as champion.
Fatima’s 0-0 draw with Malick yesterday also ensured that Mucurapo’s task would be easy, as the 2005 Intercol winner was seven points behind the leader at the start of the day and needed a win to keep in contention for the title. Qian Grovesnor was on target four times for St Anthony’s, who drubbed St Mary’s 7-2 in Westmoorings.

Results

Fatima 0 v Malick 0.

Mucurapo 2 (Al Mohammed 41st, Khlaeem Highland 65th) v QRC 0.

St Anthony’s 7 (Qian Grovesnor (4), Justin Highley, Kerron Villaroel, Andre Sebro) v St Mary’s 2.
Carapichaima wins in Central.
By: Kwame Williams (Guardian).

Without having to kick a ball, Carapichaima Senior Secondary clinched its first ever Central Zone league title yesterday.
“Caps” beat Tabaquite 3-0 on Monday in the only match played in the zone that day. This saw it strecthing its lead over the pack to 11 points and needing just one point from its final three fixtures to win.
If Marabella, the team in second place, had won yesterday then Carapichaima would have had to wait until the next round of matches to be crowned kings.
Marabella was unable to do so however, falling 2-0 to Presentation College San Fernando at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva in the second match of a double-header. In the first match at the same venue Chaguanas whipped UCB 3-1.

Results

UCB 1 v Chaguanas 3 (Fidel Glasgow (2), o.g.)

Marabella 0 v Presentation 2 (Zerron Forte, Wayne Nicome).
Scarborough keeps Tobago crown.
By: Kwame Williams (Guardian).

Scarborough Secondary made it six consecutive league wins yesterday, clinching the zonal crown at Shaw Park with a 3-1 win over Bishop’s High School.
Jerron Quashie opened the scoring, giving the defending champ a 1-0 lead it held until the end of the first half.
Early in the second period, Randon Hamilton equalised for Bishop’s, but its opponent refused to settle for a share of the points and regained the lead with about 20 minutes remaining.
Trevin Caesar got the go-ahead-goal, before Jevaughn Arnold settled things with his late strike.
Diego Nicholson notched a hattrick for Signal Hill, as it thumped Mason Hall 6-3 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium’s Training Ground. Curtis Moses, who scored twice, and Ruel Waldrop accounted for the other three items.

Results

Bishop’s High 1 (Ramdon Hamilton) v Scarborough (Trevin Caesar, Jevaughn Arnold, Jerron Quashie).

Mason Hall 3 v Signal Hill 6 (Diego Nicholson (3), Curtis Moses (2), Ruel Waldrop).

The standard of play in the league looks like it has dropped. What is the deal with all the big name schools now? Arima compre, what really going on?

I've only seen one CIC game, but my view mirrors that of those on the board who have seen them. Not strong enough mentally or physically. I was speaking to one of the guys after the 6-1 from Fatima and his attitude was, "Yeah, but I didn't play in that game" as if it mattered if he played or not. His team just lost badly and he was happy that he wasn't involved in the game. They really are on the way down.

Let us not start to twist de knife ndey belly yet, the remainder of the schedule is not quite favourable to us and we ain't far enough ahead of them in the standings to really be relaxed.........but, that being said, from the highlights i saw, CIC doh have no spirit.

i currently attending CIC and i could agree by saying we playing utter sh!t... really thought we could have done better this year with the new coach and all... as soon as i saw haywood on the side (after playing football with him in lower 6) i thought instant goals for CIC but i aint understand what going on with them... like they does just look at the opposing team and give up... but as its my skool i'll still support them at the games... just wish they'll buck up b4 the last few games

Nutthing eh change over the last few years in CIC. D fellas small and unathletic. No coach could change dat. As Touches said the other day, they look like an under 16 team playing in an U19 league.
