The amalgamation of the TT Pro League and Super League for the Toyota Classic knockout competition was launched on Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Port of Spain.
Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Limited is in it’s second year sponsoring the competition and have pumped $75,000 into the tournament this year.
Mrs. Donna Petit Walker, Toyota’s Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager says that her company believes it’s an honor to be the title sponsor of the tournament and encouraged other members of the Corporate Community to show their support for the development of local football as well.
"Despite the negativity plaguing our society today, we still have much to be proud of, and it is with this spirit Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Limited will like to continue to show our support of the TT Pro League and their efforts to contribute positively to society."
"Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Limited is committed to the development of sports and our youth, as we intend to play our part in developing healthy young minds, and contribute to making a society we can all be proud of" said Mrs. Walker.
In 2007 Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Ltd would be looking at ways to expand and offer a prize for the ‘Best Footballer of the Year’ – and Mrs. Petit Walker took the opportunity to wish all the players the best of luck for the upcoming season.
CEO of TT Pro League Dexter Skeene was pleased to report the relationship between the TT Pro League and the Super League has been a progressive one, saying, "I have to publicly express my appreciation to Anthony Harford, Richard Piper and the Super League for their coorperation, camaraderie and assistance they have given to us at TT Pro League."

Big prizes at stake

Does the government give a ax break for corporate Trinidad sponsorship of these kinda events?

I ain want to sound ungrateful but $75000 TT is small money. What happen to the rest of corporate Trinidad? All this money oil making I can't remember every hearing any kinda community development from the oil companies.

I will be willing to pledge $10 US (College Student ;D) to a collective Warrior Nation pot  to help give greater incentive to these kinda events. The Warrior Nation has an opportunity to put money where our mouth is. Let's see if we can step up.

I wouldn't mind contributing to such a fund. However, I'm afraid that corporate T&T would use our efforts as excuse to contribute even less money   :(.

This may not be a lot of money but this tourney is pretty small in scale so the pot is justified.
The tournament runs for a month but technically only 4days.

On the first day of play, out of the 16-teams only 4-move on.

They have 4-groups so I guess 1-team from each group. The tie-breaker will be goal difference...thats my guess
