BIG SIX PREVIEWS.

SAN JUAN JABLOTEH VS SUPERSTAR RANGERS

Jabloteh may still be experiencing some nightmares, as they get ready to face Superstar Rangers in the Lucozade Sport Big Six competition.
Rangers were responsible for knocking out the San Juan based team in the Toyota Classic at the quarter final stage—but the 2006 Courts Pro Bowl Champions had the measure of the boys from St. Anns throughout the league competition, winning comprehensively on all three meetings between the two teams.
However, the star studded Jabloteh outfit, with the likes of Aurtis Whitley, Cyd Gray, Anthony Wolfe, Trent Noel and skipper Kerry Baptiste, has been experiencing a lean period of late, having only won 2 games in their last eight encounters.
Kerry Baptiste and his team had to battle hard to earn a 1-1 draw against Caledonia in their last league match.
Jabloteh are limping on the league standings in 3rd place on 50 points, 9 points off the leaders Joe Public.
So with their chances of winning the league looking a bit grim, Coach Terry Fenwick will want to get back to wining ways against Rangers on Saturday and start the Big Six tournament strongly.
Rangers on the other hand, have been growing in confidence as the season progressed. Errol Mc Farlene led his team to the Toyota Classic final, and also clinched a Big Six spot ahead of Defence Force and 2005 Big Six Champions United Petrotrin. So Mc Farlene will feel his team has a good chance as any in this competition.

JOE PUBLIC VS NORTH EAST STARS

The ‘Eastern Lions’ are smelling the league title, and not having copped any trophies this year so far, coach Mike Mc Commie would no doubt want to take away the Lucozade Sport Big Six as well.
The ‘Lions’ sit on to of the league standings on 59 points, 5 ahead of 2nd placed W Connection—and facing what would be a tricky encounter against North East Stars in their Big Six opener.
Joe Public are coming off a sound 3-0 win over Toyota Classic champions United Petrotrin with striker Roen Nelson in form scoring a double against the ‘Oilmen’ and is now the top goal scorer this season with 15 goals.
North East will however feel they can upset the ‘Men from Macoya’ having lost only once to Joe Public this season, with the other two matches ending in goalless draws.
Gally Cummings is now fully entrenched at the Sangre Grande based team, having joined the squad mid-season, and the former national coach will be aiming to pick up at least the ‘Big Six’ title for the faithful Grande supporters.

W CONNECTION VS CALEDONIA AIA

A lot is at stake for W Connection, not only will they want to get off to a good start in the ‘Big Six’, but with points going towards the league table as well, this game is of massive significance.
The ‘Savonetta Boys’ are 5 points behind league leaders Joe Public, having dropped 2 crucial points in their last game after battling to a 1-1 draw against a fighting Defence Force team.
Earl Jean and the boys must gather as much points as possible from their next few matches, if they are to have a chance of catching Joe Public in the league title race.
It will be by no means an easy task coming up against Caledonia, but the results this season are in favor of W Connection. They will once again be dependent on their Brazillian trio of Gefferson Goulart, William Da Silva Ollivera and Ronaldo Viana—the Couva based club is still waiting on an international transfer for midfielder Silvio Spann—and the world cup player will not be available for this match.
‘Cali’ have not been able to defeat the 2005 League champions this season, and will have to pull something extra special out of their hat if they are to start the ‘Big Six’ in style.
The Jerry Moe coached Caledonia team are in 5th place on the league standings, and with the league title beyond them—the ‘Men from Morvant’ will be hungry to cause a few upsets and take home some silverware this season.
With the likes of Densill Theobald, Conrad Smith and Stephan David pulling the strings in midfield, and the in form Nigel Codrington up front—Caledonia will be hoping for a positive result.
