Bobby Sookraj and Kareem Beckles were on target for Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive, as it retained its RBTT Central Zone Intercol title yesterday at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
“Caps” defeated Presentation College 2-1 to add the intercol crown to the league title it clinched last month.
All three of the goals came in the first half, with Sookraj giving the league champion the lead in the 26th.
He ran onto a through ball and made his way into the box before firing past a helpless Keron Cato in the Presentation goal.
Cato will consider himself unlucky to be beaten a second time just three minutes after conceding the opener, when a powerful shot from Beckles on the left took a wicked deflection. He had no chance of getting to the rebound.
Former Fatima College player Zerron Forte got “Pres” back into the contest just before the break, scoring in the 40th.
No more goals were forthcoming for either side, however, allowing Carapichaima to hoist the coveted trophy for the second straight year.
The Central king is now in the company of Signal Hill, who won the Tobago Intercol title by beating rivals Scarborough 4-2 on Wednesday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacelot.
On Wednesday, Signal Hill dethroned Scarborough as Tobago Zonal champs with a 4-2 win in the final at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet. Sheldon Small notched a hat-trick for Signal Hill, in the 22nd, 53rd and 88th minutes, while Diego Nicholson completed the win in the 90th. Antonio Balfour (32nd) and Jaron Quashie (45th) were the goalscorers for Scarborough, who were unable to hold on to their half-time lead. The focus today will be at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, when Fatima defends their North Zonal crown against Mucurapo at 4 pm.

Central Inter-Col Final.

Carapichaima 2 (Bobby Sookraj 26th, Kareem Beckles 29th) vs Presentation 1 (Zerron Forte 40th).
