Man denies attempted murder of Pc

Rachael Bown was shot in the stomach
A man has denied the attempted murder of a trainee policewoman shot in Nottingham earlier this year.
Trevon Thomas, 24, of Melford Road, Bilborough, Nottingham, also pleaded not guilty to possessing a firearm with intent to resist arrest.

He entered his pleas during a short hearing at Nottingham Crown Court.

Mr Thomas, originally from Trinidad, is alleged to have opened fire on 23-year-old Pc Rachael Bown in the early hours of 14 February.

Mr Thomas, who has been in the UK since 2000, was arrested three days after the shooting.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Michael Stokes QC, who adjourned the hearing for trial in December.

Ms Bown underwent two emergency operations at the city's Queen's Medical Centre and has still not returned to duty
