St Augustine players dominate SSFL Awards.
By: Roger Seepersad (Express).

St Augustine Senior Comprehensive and Trinidad and Tobago under-19 midfielder Elton John was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2006 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) at Friday night's SSFL prize distribution ceremony, held at the Learning Resource Centre in Couva.
John helped St Augustine to three titles last season, including the "Big Five", East Zone InterCol crown and East Zone league as he led the resurgence of the "Green Machine" under the watchful eye of their coach, Michael Grayson.
The Secondary Schools League was hailed by one of its corporate sponsors, Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (RBTT), as one of the avenues through which youths can express themselves positively.
The league provides a positive impact in terms of building school and community spirit and is seen by the sponsors as a "social investment".
According to Learie Flores, RBTT branch manager (Chaguanas): "The InterCol competition helps in cultivating a well-rounded individual, sculpting character, discipline, fair-play and teamwork all within the framework of intense rivalry."
Similar sentiments were expressed by T&TEC corporate communications manager Dennis McCommie and public affairs manager of British Gas, Gale Decle, who also spoke at Friday's function.
Along with John, seven other 'Gustine players were named on the 2006 SSFL all-star male team, while four of their female counterparts were named on the all-star female team, inluding female SSFL MVP Avanell Isaac.

I guess players such as Jesse Fullerton, Leston Paul, Javed Mohammed, Stephen Knox, Daniel Cyrus, Nigel Wright, Robert Primus and Anthony Guppy wasn't good enough to make this all star team.... and most play for our national under 17 team too.

kudos to elton john
but to name the other sta players on the all star defence i dont think thats right
when fatima played sta they didnt have john which was a true test of their defence
and they struggled losing 2-0, by far the easiest match fatima had for the intercol season, (besides CIC :P)
fatima didnt have foncette either , they had poon king , and anyone who went to finals would know who poon king is lol
there should be more defence from san juan on that all star team imo.

You are right!! I don't understand how the committee works. I hope/guess they trying to scout new talent and that's why other players were identify...at least I want to believe so.

Javed Mohammed heading to UConn this 2007 season. He got a scholarship.

I think this tells us the strength or how good the SSFL is,there are other players just as good or better playing there, ppl want to stop the national U17 players from playing in the league because it's a shyt league,i've proven my point when i said those players should be allowed to play,if we look at who got MVP,most goals, man of the match etc etc it's not guys from that team,at the same time i think it's a win win situation for them because they played in the league and the national U17 team is still in training.
