It look like Cuba had more experience than our boys in their team. It look like we just throw together a small goal team. From the time the game started it seemed like we were on the bak foot giving them too much space on the ball. Our attackers weren't pressuring them from the back. They pressured and that's how the first goal occurred. We still don't have the proper mentality for futsal. It can be organized too not just a dribbling fest.

Honestly, I get turned off after seeing only 2 minutes of the first half. First off, I seeing players on our national team with long sleeve and gloves on like if they playing in Alaska. TV thing again.......

One of our players sting his own goalkeeper. WTF? ::)

Secondly, our positioning is poor, players touch looks rough and they just seem lost out on that field. Look how the Cubans moving the ball and their ball control. Look at ours.

May be we have to talk to Jack about this, like he eh paying no attention to Futsal, could it be that we have to get a foreign Coach because from what i'm reading here like the problems are more tactical than anything else or is it that our players are not ready,we have to try and develop a vibrant Futsal league in T&T.

Xactly Coops.. in addition to de fact dat just de other day man was not even calling it futsal or even TnT national ball but rather "small goal". Now it seems that some are realising that once yuh in de National colours de ting is for real because obviously National pride get hurt a bit after reading some posts... Maybe if we treat de ting with a little more respect like if its a "real sport" we might have more success.

Winner takes all in Futsal Invitational

Winner takes all in Futsal Invitational
By Stephon Nicholas (T&T Newsday)

TEN THOUSAND dollars in cash awaits the winner of the first Annual Futsal Invitational tournament scheduled to kick off on November 21 at the UWI-SPEC Grounds, St Augustine at 9 am.

The winner-takes-all competition is being hosted by the SW touring team and will feature 24 teams battling for the $10,000 first prize as well as other prizes including the SW Futsal Invitational Challenge Trophy.

Organisers are targeting teams from corporate industries, tertiary institutions, the media as well as promotional/entertainment companies.

There will be three futsal courts (one indoor, two outdoor) and each game will be six-a-side with two halves each lasting ten minutes.

Registration is $1,500 per team with a maximum of 15 players per squad. Registration started on Monday and all interested persons are encouraged to enter their teams as soon as possible.

There will be a ball juggling competition, a football skills showdown as well as prizes for Most Valuable Player, Most Goals and Best Goal.

There will be a FIFA Interactive World Cup zone where football fans can play their favourite football video games without “breaking a sweat”.

An all-star exhibition match will be played between the national football team and a celebrity team.

All registered teams must attend a seminar to be briefed about the competition and the rules and regulations of futsal.

The event is being organised by Geoffrey Edwards, managing director, G5 Distributors in collaboration with the other members of the SW touring football team.

Edwards explained that the event was conceptualised to allow young persons the opportunity to showcase their ability on the futsal stage and bring the sport closer to the public.

A number of top international players have credited futsal as being instrumental in developing their technique including Brazilian stars Robinho, Ronaldinho and Pele.

Edwards wishes to thank sponsors for making the event possible — Lucozade Sport, Graphic House, Axe, Dixie, Trini Pulse and the Eastern Emergency Response Services.

Admission is $30 (General), $20 (Tertiary Students with ID) and Children Under-12 will be free.

For more information or registration call 765-4439 or email futsalnation@gmail.com or visit www.trinipulse.com.

SW Futsal International at UWI.
T&T Newsday Reports.

The biggest futsal fiesta for 2009 kicks off 9am on Saturday at the UWI- SPEC grounds, St Augustine with 24 teams battling for the $10,000 first prize and SW Futsal Invitational Challenge Trophy.

The event entitled SW Futsal Invitational is being organised by the SW Touring Team and will feature an exhibition game between the Boom Champions 94.1 and the national futsal team. There will also be an Axe Ball Juggling Competition, Dixee Shootout Competition and FIFA Interactive World Cup Zone where gamers can do battle in the virtual aspect of the game.

Football and futsal enthusiasts are encouraged to come out for 10 hours of non-stop action and support their favourite teams in the winner takes all tournament. Tickets are available on the day of the event. General admission is $30.00 and tertiary students with identification pay $20.00.

The event will feature 5-a-side teams from corporate companies, entertainment, media, tertiary institutions, armed forces, community and club teams.

The one-day futsal extravaganza will be an event to remember with live entertainment, a food court and well stocked bar.

Many of today’s football superstars have credited futsal as being important in the development of their technical ability. Brazilians, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Robinho are just a few who have made their mark at the futsal level and have gone on to dazzle the world with their sublime skills.

Futsal is a variation of football played indoors on a had surface delimited by lines. The rules of futsal are very different from football and promote creativity, improvisation and technique.

The competition is being sponsored by Graphic House, G5 Distributors, Axe, Dixee, Trinipulse, Coca Cola, Eastern Group of Companies, Bico Ice Cream, Boom Champions 94.1 Lucozade, National Flour Mills and SPORTT.

T&T Futsal Association coming

T&T Futsal Association coming
T&T Guardian

Plans are being put in place to form a Futsal Association in T&T. To get the association up and running, a meeting will be held on Sunday at the CEPEP Administrative Office (next to Central Regional Sports Complex) in Saith Park, Chaguanas, from 10 am. Registration starts at 9 am.

“We are calling on all Futsal/small goal teams to the extra ordinary meeting to discuss a way forward for Futsal in T&T,” said former “Strike Squad” captain Clayton Morris, who is head coach of the T&T futsal team.

After qualifying along with Haiti from the Caribbean Football Union, T&T was knocked out in the group stage of the World Cup in Brazil last year. The next tournament is scheduled for Thailand in 2012 and T&T is hoping to select the best possible team to qualify and participate in the event.

Just for Kicks

Just for Kicks
Scoregasmic Entertainment

Scoregasmic Entertainment takes pleasure in inviting your club to field a team in our first ever football tournament Just for Kicks.

Just for Kicks is a new fresh tournament done like no other. It is an indoor football tournament also known regionally and internationally as Futsal. It will be held at the Woodbrook Youth Facility on the following dates: December 7th, 9th, 14th and the 15th from 5pm – 10pm on each night. This tournament comprises of 16 teams each, with 10 players per side, each vying for the ultimate first place.

Registration Fee is $850.00 per team. (Regulation can be obtained when teams register).

Prizes are as follows:

1st Place – a cash prize of $10,000.00, a gold trophy award, 10 gold medals along with the bragging rights of being the best Futsal team in the country.
2nd Place – a silver trophy award, 10 silver medals and a gift basket.
3rd Place – a bronze trophy award as well as 10 bronze medals.

Other Awards for the taking:
MVP;
Most goals;
Golden glove;
Most assists;  and
The “sickest dribble” trophy

By fielding a team you become our partners in pursuing and achieving the follow objectives:

1. To expose Futsal to many different persons as the fantastic and fun sport in the hope that we as a country can get more involved into this sport. Hopefully by hosting this beautiful competition the Ministry of Sport will see to it that more indoor sporting arenas are built for the purpose of not only Futsal but also for the benefit hockey players, gymnasts, the  badminton sport, volleyball and all the other sports that need a properly lighted indoor, sanitary environment to practice and play on.

***  In Trinidad we have a National team for Futsal but because we do not have enough indoor sporting arenas there are not many clubs that can partake in the sport.

2. To give something back to the community of Northwest Trinidad through Just for Kicks.

3. To get persons together in the spirit of Christmas and to provide an exciting activity to secondary and tertiary students. In addition those students studying abroad and returning for Christmas to spend time with their families and communities – the majority of them being football scholarship winners will be able to have a friendly alternative to the competition-intense demands of the scholarships.

4. To produce an out-of-this-world-experience to both the registered teams and audience of the event so that from next year it will become an annual tradition that persons will always be looking forward to.

For the competition itself, there is one grand prize, but in achieving these objectives, we believe that the entire country wins.

We thank you for your attention and anticipate hearing from you soon and seeing your team on the pitch. While saying may the best team win, we extend to your best wishes in Just for Kicks.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Guatemala to stage futsal championship.
Concacaf.com.

NEW YORK - Guatemala's Domo Polideportivo will be the venue for the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship, the second straight and third time overall that the country has hosted the event.

The eight-team event will be staged July 2-8 with four teams qualifying for the Futsal World Cup November 2-18 in Thailand.

Six teams will qualify automatically for the CONCACAF finals: host and defending champion Guatemala, the two-time champion United States, four-time World Cup qualifier Cuba, 2008 semifinalist Panama, Mexico and Costa Rica.

The remaining two berths will be decided in a playoff between Canada and El Salvador, with the dates to be announced later, and another from the Caribbean championship set for February 17-23 in Havana, Cuba.

Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, St. Kitts & Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago will compete in the round-robin event with the best team (besides Cuba) qualifying for the CONCACAF finals.

The Domo Polideportivo was the site for the 2000 FIFA Futsal World Cup, 2007 Pan American Games qualifying as well as the 2008 CONCACAF Championship.

Either you are grossly mistaken or you are deliberately trying to mislead the forum... Inter Movistar has 4 players on the team, as do Barcelona...

I don't follow Futsal, I was just going by what the commentator said at a point during the game. At one time 4 Barca players on the floor. I could not tell you if the commentator meant some of the other players were at one time Barca players. So maybe your right I am mistaken

Better future for Beach Soccer and Futsal

Better future for Beach Soccer and Futsal
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA)

Futsal coach Clayton Morris believes that Futsal in Trinidad and Tobago will enter a new era after it was ratified as an official member organization of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association at the Ordinary Congress on the weekend.

The Futsal Association along with the Beach Soccer Association were given official sanctioning by the local governing body which enables official competitions and development programs to be organized among other matters relating to Futsal and Beach Soccer.

Clayton Morris, a past head coach of the National Futsal Team, is again involved in the 5-a-side version of the game which is played mainly indoors and believes it has a bright future in T&T.

“We have to say thank you Jesus that this has finally happened. It’s the way forward for Futsal in Trinidad and Tobago,” Morris said.

“This is something we have spent long hours planning and looking forward to. There are a lot of young persons who look forward to Futsal. We haven’t had a national team involved in competition for maybe six to seven years. We are ready to take it forward now,” added Morris who led T&T to the Caribbean Futsal title in 2004 and 2008.

“We can now have Futsal better structured with development programs and the involvement of the more established clubs. This will help us to prepare players for future national futsal team selection.”

The Caribbean Football Union Futsal World qualifies takes place in 2015 ahead of the CONCACAF Final round and 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.

T&T also entered its first CONCACAF Beach Soccer qualification tournament last year and gave a creditable performance. But now being under the umbrella of the TTFA, Beach Soccer president Kyle Lequay is optimistic about the future.

“We felt there was a need to officially join ranks with the TTFA which is the official body for football in the country. And seeing the direction the TTFA is heading in under President Raymond Tim Kee and his circle of football personnel, we felt the timing was perfect. I foresee better structuring of beach soccer in this country and of course an improved program for our National Beach Soccer team in the future,” Lequay said.

The next 16-nation FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will be held in 2015 in Portugal. The qualifying rounds will take place in 2014 and 2015.
