World Cup Warriors come together for Trotman Memorial Day.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

Several of this country’s players from the 2006 World Cup squad will come together to host the “Mickey and Stefan Trotman  Memorial” Day at the Pinto Road Recreation Ground, Pinto Road Arima on May 19.
Some of the players are already in the country following their seasons abroad including Sunderland striker Stern John and midfielder Carlos Edwards as well as St Johnstone striker Jason Scotland.
Among the other players carded to be at the event which will include a four-team round robin tournament and other fun activities for kids as well, include Chris Birchall, Marvin Andrews, Kelvin Jack, Aurtis Whitley, Cyd Gray, Densill Theobald, Brent Sancho, Arnold Dwarika, Gary Glasgow, Atiba Charles, Silvio Spann, Ansil Elcock, Angus Eve, Cornell Glen, Shawn Boney, Jerren Nixon and others.
And among the teams confirmed to take part include United Petrotrin, Caledonia AIA and Cool It, a team funded by Trotman in the past. Trotman played for the likes of Dallas Burn, Miami Fusion, Rochester Rhinos, Joe Public and Arima Senior Comprehensive.
Mickey and his brother Stefan passed away in a motor vehicle accident in October 2001 and as a way of keeping his spirit alive, John said that he along with the T&T Professional Players Association were planning the annual “Mickey and Stefan Trotman Day”.
“We have had some very happy times over the past year but even with all this success we can’t forget those who couldn’t be with us. We felt the timing was right to have an occasion like this in memory of Mickey and his brother,” said John who played alongside Trotman at New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers.
“We started this a few years ago but it didn’t come last couple years because of the hectic schedules we had with the World Cup and other things and now we want to bring it back because it was one of Mickey’s dreams to play in a World Cup. We were able to make sure the country reached that stage to give him something to smile about as well and now we will play one for him on his home ground,” John added. Trotman would have turned 33 this October.
