Atullah Guerra scored twice while Gaeson Gregory, Peter Byers and Shandel Samuel chipped in with a goal apiece as last year’s runners-up CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh began their quest in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championships with a 5-0 whipping of SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber of the Netherlands Antilles yesterday.
In the Group “A” match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, Guerra broke the deadlock in the 21st minute while the Antiguan forward Gregory doubled the lead three minutes later.
Gregory’s countryman Peter Byers widened the lead in the 50th minute, turning past defender Danielo Trenidad and drilling his left-footer through the grasp of goalkeeper Marcello Pisa.
Samuel got Jabloteh’s fourth in the 54th, after the defence made a hash of a Trent Noel freekick, while Guerra collected a long ball from Noel in the 79th, got past Pisa and powered his right-footer into the open net.
Baltimore De St Marc of Haiti enjoyed a 12-0 mauling of another Antilles’ team Jong Colombia in a Group “E” contest at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a- Pierre.
Baltimore went ahead courtesy of a 10th minute own goal before Luxene Elestin helped himself to a beaver-trick, scoring in the 12th, 22nd, 39th and 55th. Emerlin Nicola (71st and 77th) and Gabriel Michel (84th and 89th) scored two goals apiece with one each from Raymond Ednerson (19th), Junior Joseph (32nd) and Roland St Jean (76th).
SV Leo Victor of Suriname got a second-half double from Vandillino Sastronedjo (51 st and 81 st) to earn a 4-0 win over Helenites SC of the United States Virgin Islands in Group “D”. Rendwil Kinsaini (28th) and Fazel Hoogrorp (33rd) got the others for Leo Victor.
And, in Group “C”, Inter Moengotapoe of Suriname registered a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the highly-fancied Jamaican club Harbour View. Jermaine Hue put Harbour View in front after 16 minutes but Gerard Adensida equalised in the 45th and goalkeeper Brayen Bamba netted the winner courtesy an 82nd minute penalty. The “Eastern Lions” Joe Public were due to face Sagicor South East United in Group “B” action last night at the Marvin Lee Stadium.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
