This game is good end-to-end action.

Defoe for his old-old team vs his new old team.
Hard tackle, plenty running, shots galore.
Both keepers earning their pay.

David James was absolutely incredible in this game.  Game could have easily been 4 or 5-1 for Spurs. Portsmouth owing he some seeerious bonus money!

EPL has the most bottom and middle of the table shit teams out of Spain, Germany, France, Italy. I would love tuh see a tournament involving those sides just tuh see which country's side come out on top. The middle of table teams from each league play each other.

Whatever you do, do it to the purpose; do it thoroughly, not superficially. Go to the bottom of things. Any thing half done, or half known, is in my mind, neither done nor known at all. Nay, worse, for it often misleads.

Redknapp amazed by late Bent miss

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/7836585.stm

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp pulled no punches as he criticised Darren Bent for missing a golden chance to give his side a late victory against Portsmouth.

With 10 minutes left and the score at 1-1, Bent headed wide from six yards.

Redknapp said: "You will never get a better chance to win a match than that. My missus could have scored that one.  :rotfl: :rotfl:

"Bent did not only have part of the goal to aim for, but he had the entire net - and he put it wide. Unbelievable. I was just so frustrated."

David Nugent had put Pompey in front with his first top-flight goal since his £6m move from Preston in July 2007 but Jermain Defoe quickly equalised against his former club.

Then came Bent's glaring miss, which left Redknapp reflecting on what might have been.

"I was out of my seat to celebrate and [Pompey keeper] David James was waiting to pick the ball out of the net," added Redknapp.

"Darren should have scored, it was an open goal, but there is nothing we can do about that. He didn't do it on purpose and, if we carry on playing like that, we will win matches."

However, Bent's error is likely to fuel speculation that Redknapp is keen to offload the striker, who was signed by former White Hart boss Martin Jol for £16.5m in June 2007.

And Spurs continue to be linked with West Ham striker Craig Bellamy and Sunderland forward Kenwyne Jones as they look to strengthen to ensure their Premier League survival.

While the point was enough to lift Spurs off the bottom of the table and out of the Premier League's relegation zone, Redknapp felt they should have clinched victory.

Tottenham poured forward after drawing level and a rueful Redknapp continued: "We missed chance after chance.

"But we showed great character to come back from 1-0 down - we had lost two players through injury in the first half in Roman Pavlyuchenko and Ledley King and three more (Aaron Lennon, Vedran Corluka and Heurelho Gomes) were not fit to play on at half-time.

"We could easily have hidden but we hit them with everything and missed chances to win the game."

Portsmouth are still without a Premier League win since 30 November but, after seeing his side pick up their first point at White Hart Lane, Pompey boss Tony Adams was full of praise for his players.

"David James was fantastic and the centre-backs (Sol Campbell and Sylvain Distin) were exceptional as well - Sol in particular. I was very impressed with that unit.

"We created some good chances and took the lead but a draw was a fair result because, when they got back into the game, it looked like they would win it.

"Our goalkeeper was immense and I was disappointed that their goal went through Sol's legs because I didn't think anyone would beat David today."

By contrast, Redknapp revealed he has serious concerns about his goalkeeping options.

Brazilian Heurelho Gomez started in goal despite being injured, with Redknapp unwilling to put his faith in reserve keeper Cesar Sanchez.

"We need another good goalkeeper and if I'd had confidence in the Spanish keeper [Cesar Sanchez] then I would've played him," said Redknapp.
