The New TT U-17 Women Foreign Coach
« on: July 03, 2008, 10:55:14 PM »
I must have been under some rock, but I did not remember hearing TT hired a foreign coach, Randy Waldrum, to prepare the U17 WNT for the CONCACAF qualifiers. Listening to him speak, it seems like his approach was more than any team at this level.

captured video from my recording of last night's trini news. Story starts at 00.28

Some quick research shows Waldrum is a former Notre Dame ncaa women's coach, who in 2006,  "owns the fourth-best career win percentage among active Division I head coaches and now has led three different Irish teams to the NCAA title game"

and found this press release:

Seems like someone who can take this team places, especially with USA in our group.

And apparently another US coach is assisting him:

This is great news for the Womens side !! The TTFF has got it bang on !! They are pulling out all the stops to ensure the team has a succesfull qualifiers. I believe that Waldrum is still the Head Coach of Notre Dame & not former as you have indicated. Maybe someone in the know can confirm this a such. Either way this is a huge Coup for the Womens program !! Mr Warner through Lincoln Phillips have brought TTFF womens football program light years ahead with the signing of these two high profile coaches. Marlon Charles should be proud that he will be working with these two gentlemen to bring all his staffs hard work to the next level. Have heard great things about this team from the Tampa Bay camp & the early TT camp at the Centre of Excellence so far to date & am looking forward to seeing these young ladies perform well in the qualifiers beginning on the 17th.

Cheers   19

Goooo Soca Princesses Gooooooooo !!!!

That Waldrum was coaching the U-17s was first reported on this forum on May 13:

Another connection was made with Waldrum and Trini coach Kendall Reyes March last year.

Randy is still the head coach of Notre Dame. Both Him and Lauffer have been working with Kendall Reyes and Anthony James, who was in Trinidad with his college team in May( Youngstown State University), on establishing the foreign trinis from Canada and the US. He is a well respected coach in the US. You all may not remember this but them two trini brothers have been making this recommendation now for almost two years. So its good to see that the federation have finally made the move.
It is costing them some major dollars though. Lets hope its money well spent.
I LOVE THIS GAME BETTER THAN I LOVE THIS GAME
