SSFL battles to save Tobago Zone.
By: Nigel Simon (Guardian).

President of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Ewing Davis, will head a five-member executive team which flies off to Tobago today for an emergency meeting with officials of the Tobago zone of the SSFL. The zone was scheduled to kick off its season with two matches at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, yesterday, but no one could say why none of the matches took place.
Contacted yesterday, Azaad Mohammed-Khan, general secretary of the SSFL said that the trip to Tobago was for the executive to discuss matters with the Tobago officials.
Apart from Davis and Khan, Anthony Creed (1st vice-president), William Wallace (2nd vice-president) and Lawrence Seepersad (assistant general secretary), will also attend. The Tobago Football Association and Referees Association said they had no information as to when the league will start.
Apart from Scarborough Secondary, none of the other four teams have registered for the competition.
Khan confirmed that only Scarborough Secondary had registered players for the season while Signal Hill, Elizabeth’s College, Roxborough Composite and Bishop’s failed to meet the registration deadline.
Khan added that the Tobago executive was not functioning at 100 per cent. “The meeting is to make sure that things work well for the sake of school football.”
All five schools involved in the Championship have been invited to the meeting which will be held at the Ministry of Education Office, Milford Road, Tobago. The zone’s chairperson Pearl AImond-George, and assistant, Handell Dillon will also be present.
Khan said if the other teams were not in a position to play, Scarborough would be declared the zone’s top team. With pressure expected to be coming from the league sponsors, Davis and his executive would be keen to resolve the problems surrounding the Tobago arm of the SSFL.
Fatima, San Juan go after third victories.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Fatima College will hope to solidify its hold at the top of the BG TT North Zone Secondary Schools Football League when it plays host to rival St Mary’s College at Fatima ground, from 4pm today.
Fatima (six points) will be full of confidence following a come-from-behind 2-1 win over zonal title-holders Mucurapo in the previous round on Monday to add to a 6-0 thumping of Tranquillity Government Secondary in the opening round of matches.
The ‘Saints’ are also unbeaten, having crushed Tranquillity 4-0 in its lone outing led by a double from national Under-17 striker Qian Grovesnor.
Over at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, “Compre” as Mucurapo is called will be eager to get back to winnings way as they entertain rival Malick Senior Comprehensive.
Queen’s Royal College, 2-0 winners over Malick on the first day and well rested after a bye on Monday will be at home to cellar-placed Tranquillity. St Anthony’s College is on a bye.
In the East Zone, Table leaders San Juan with maximum six points from two matches is expected to pick up another three points at home against St George’s College, who are yet to play a match this season.
They lost by default against Arima Senior Comprehensive in the first round. Struggling national league and zonal champions St Augustine will be desperate to get its first win against debutants Malabar Composite.
The “Green Machine” are coming off 2-2 draw with EL Dorado Senior Comprehensive and a surprise 3-2 beating from Hillview College and face a Malabar team that lost its opening match of the campaign against San Juan 2-1 in the last round.
El Dorado (four points) and Hillview (three points) meet in the zone’s other encounter at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya. Down South, a large crowd is expected to witness the clash between league champions Naparima College and the “Green Hornets” of Princes Town at Princes Town.

Good question. I ain't hearing nothing about the Central zone too.  Together with Tobago, the SSFL needs to do some serious soul searching to decide what is the best manner to allow teams from these areas to compete and be competitive.  The tobago zone is very disorganized, while I ain't think that there are enough quality teams to have a Central zone.  Ireckin that the top Senior League temas in the North, East, and South might beat a few of the Central teams.  No disrespect, but they only have about three decent teams in the Central Zone.

They limited the south, north and east to ah 7 team league because they are trying to improve the the standard of play...I agree but on the other and they still have the central and tobago league...there are no more than 4 decent teams in those 2 zones combined..the rest of teams cannot beat the top team in the senior division in the different zones.

yeah mix the league zones back up regardless of the logistics and who cant afford it..the best will always be on top...this woulda helped with the overall ability of the younger footballers..the schools who were serious woulda put money and effort into training better players...but then again it have schools who might've "bought' the best too lol...we coulda had bout 2 real top divisions and relegation battles etc.

the Intercol in the mid 90's used to be good too when it have teams in the bottom of south zone up against QRC and St.Mary's and doing the upset..the fans were all into it too...the whole South rooting against North and vice versa.
is Intercol still in this format?..or they back to the zonal playoffs?
