Crab Connection matches Eastern Lions’ steps.
By: Jovan Ravello (Guardian).

The Sportworld National Super League’s top two teams Joe Public and Crab Connection recorded similar 4-0 wins on match day 16 of the competition yesterday. Away to Plipdeco Caroni at Gilbert Park, California, Public put on a stellar performance with Jamaican striker Carlington Smith scoring a hat-trick and Roen Nelson adding another.
Smith got his first in the 18th minute to open the scoring, Nelson doubled Public’s advantage in the 31st minute of the match and Smith put his second in the back of the net on 43 minutes to give Public a 3-0 lead at the half then, on the resumption, Smith completed his hat-trick with a 69th minute penalty.
Crab Connection kept within a point of the league leaders with their own 4-0 win over Media 21 at the Mount Hope Junior Secondary ground on goals from Irving Trim (35th), Kirston Graham (38th) and Marlon Warner (60th and 84th).
While Darren Lewis doubled up to help Wasa Clean and White fight its way back into its match against Superstar Rangers at the Wasa ground, St Joseph salvaging a 2-2 draw in the process.
Lewis scored the first of his goals in the 82nd minute to give Wasa the lead but in the very next minute Rafer Ross equalised for Rangers who had Josimar Belgrave to thank for the lead in the 89th minute.
But just as Rangers fans began to celebrate Lewis struck again in the second minute of time added on.
Elsewhere Maraval Youth Academy beat Angostura 1976 F.C Phoenix 2-1, Colan Gomez opened the scoring for the Youth Academy in the 11th minute before Shelton Williams equalised for Phoenix in the 37th minute before Gomez ended the scoring on the stroke of half-time.

Results:

Joe Public 4 (Roen Nelson 31st, Carlington Smith 18th 43rd, 69th pen) vs Plipdeco Caroni 0.

Crab Connection 4 (Irving Trim 35th, Kirston Graham 38th, Marlon Warner 60th and 84th) vs Media 21 0.

Maraval Youth Academy 2 (Colan Gomez 11th, 45th) vs Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix 1 (Shelton Williams 37th).

Wasa Clean and White 2 (Darren Lewis 82nd, 92nd) vs Superstar Rangers 2 (Rafer Ross 83rd, Josimar Belgrave 89th).
Rangers rob Caroni of victory.
By Joel Bailey (Newsday).

Akudu Goodridge had a hand in all three goals for Superstar Rangers as they eked out a hard-fought 3-2 victory over PLIPDECO Caroni in a rescheduled Sportworld Super League clash at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucu-rapo yesterday. With the result, Rangers moved their way to third place with 32 points, ahead of WASA Clean & White and Police on goal difference. Under persistent rainfall from start to finish, Rangers went ahead against the run of play, as Goodridge collected a deep ball from captain Colin Roberts in the 29th minute, rounded Caroni’s goalkeeper Curtis Granger and slotted the ball into the open net.
But Caroni fought back to equalise in the 43rd minute, as Kern Cupid got a return pass from Jason Cudjoe on the left flank and blasted his right-footed drive beyond the dive of Jason Bowen. The visitors got a deserved lead four minutes into the second half, as striker Jesse De Four capitalised on slack defending by Rafer Ross and fed Cudjoe, who rifled his shot home from 15 metres out. That goal seemed to spur Rangers into action and, after a prolonged series of attacks, levelled the scores in the 84th.
From a long ball, Goodridge beat Caroni’s offside trap and, after his shot was saved by Bowen, Josimar Belgrave collected the rebound and slotted the ball into the back of the net. Both teams fought valiantly for the winner, but Goodridge will prove decisive in the end. The strongly-built forward saw his header crashed off the crossbar in the 89th. But in the third minute of stoppage time, Roberts’ corner found Don Morris, who headed to the path of Goodridge, who tucked the ball home from close range. League action will continue on Wednesday.
