late 1800s- early 1900s trinidad literature.

Hey, I have a paper to write, and I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for stories from this period that I could read. I want to write a paper comparing japanese literature to trini literature for my class in japanese lit. in translation.

edit: I'm looking for novels, short stories, or poetry.

Try these authors- Earl Lovelace, V.S.Naipaul, Dereck Walcott.

Thanks, I just realized that my school's library has quite a few books by those authors, and then some.

Earl Lovelace: b. 1932. Earliest work- ~1965
V.S.Naipaul: b. 1932. Earliest work - 1957
Dereck Walcott: b. 1930. Earliest work: 1948
Michael Anthony: b. 1932. Earliest work: 1953 (1st novel The games were coming was published in 1963)
Shiva Naipaul: b. 1945. Earliest work: 1970
Clara Delima: b. 1921. Earliest work: 1965
