Same Day F.A.
« on: July 22, 2009, 06:09:19 PM »
Here's a trivia question I'll just provide the answer to.

Which FA in the current CONCACAF region was made a member of the English FA on the same day as the Trinidad Amateur Football Association, on February 22, 1909?

It was the American Football Association, the forerunner of the US Soccer Federation.

The Manchester Guardian of Feb 23, 1909 reports:

Quote
At a meeting of the Football Association in London yesterday the draw for the fourth round, to be played on March 6, was made as follows:—

Tottenham or Burnley v. Manchester United.
Derby County v. Notts Forest.
Glossop v. Bristol City.
West Ham or Newcastle v. Sunderland.

At the same meeting, with Mr. J. C. Clegg in the chair, the American Football Association and the Trinidad Amateur Association were elected to membership of the Football Association. An application by Southend United for membership was deferred.
