Notre Dame ex-AD waives hearing on minors charges.
By: Dan Berrett (poconorecord.com).The former athletic director of Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg, who is accused of buying cherry vodka for a group of teenage girls, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday morning.
Anthony Creece, 39, is accused of buying and bringing the vodka to school for a planned overnight camp-out in the gymnasium Aug. 29. The girls ranged in age from 14 to 17, police said.
Creece, who also served as the boys and girls soccer coach at the school, was later fired.
He is charged with corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor, and with furnishing alcohol to minors, a third-degree misdemeanor.
Neither Creece's attorney, James Swetz, nor Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Michael Rakaczewski had a comment on the matter at this stage.
Creece left the Brodheadsville courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Debby York without comment and quickly drove away.
Though Creece, a native of Trinidad, had previously been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Pike County Correctional Facility, Creece is no longer in custody there, the jail said.
It is unclear what the status is of the immigration-related charges. The charges stemming from the alcohol incident will be sent to Monroe County Court of Common Pleas.
