THE Kerosene Lamp Foundation (KLF) founded by NBA player Adonal Foyle in 2005 will hold four one-day camps in Trinidad and Tobago starting today.

Each camp will target at risk youths between the ages of 11-15 and teaches them basketball skills, literacy, HIV/AIDS awareness and balancing sports and academics.

The coaching staff consists of Orlando Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee, Taiwanese based basketballer Alexus Foyle, former Orlando Magic trainer Tom Smith, former Harlem Globetrotter Roy “Zazu” Byrd and sports psychologist Graham Betchart.

All camps will be from 10 am to 2 pm with the first session being held that the Maloney Indoor Complex today. Tomorrow the second camp will be at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port-of-Spain followed by Sports Medicine Workshop hosted by Smith from 4 pm to 6 pm.

On Saturday the camp will be held at the Civic Centre in Sangre Grande with the curtain closer at Shaw Park in Tobago.

Partnering KLF are the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago, Sports United, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, United States Department of States, UNICEF and the United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago.

Approximately 450 children from Trinidad and 100 in Tobago are expected to benefit from the basketball camp initiated by the Orlando Magic player.

Foyle a native of St Vincent and the Grenadines who also played 10 seasons with the Golden State Warriors founded KLF to make an improvement in society.

For his hard work Foyle was inducted into the Humanitarian Hall of Fame and was appointed Goodwill Ambassador to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Foyle graduated from Colgate University with a BA in History and is finishing his MA in Sports Psychology at John F Kennedy University.
