Defence Force dumped Tobago United out of the Toyota Classic competition Friday night at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar.
The Defence Force scored a 4-1 victory over the struggling Tobago unit, who also campaign with them in the T&T Pro League. It was the first game of a double-header in the inaugural Toyota Classic tournament.
In the ensuing game, defending T&T Pro League champions National Quarries North East Stars needed to go to penalty kicks to defeat T&T National Super League club WASA Clean and White 5-4.
The teams had played to a 0-0 score at the end of regulation time.
At the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, Caledonia AIA/Fire of the Pro League eked out a 1-0 triumph over the Super League's Police to advance to the next stage, while in the second game there, Pro League squad United Petrotrin battled to a 4-3 win against Superstar Rangers of the Super League to move forward in the tournament.
