Night of the Champions on ESPN
T&T Express Newspapers.

THE Night of the Champions boxing card will be televised delayed on American network ESPN and on Caribbean cable channel SportsMax, according to a release from promoter Giovanni Potts, of Unified Boxing Promoters of Trinidad and Tobago.

Night of the Champions is scheduled for June 25 and will feature local boxers Kertson Manswell, Kirt Sinnette, Floyd Trumpet, Ria Ramnarine, Prince-Lee Isidore and Lorissa Rivas. The event is being co-promoted by Unified Boxing Promoters and Floyd Trumpet Productions.

"Unified Boxing Promoters of Trinidad and Tobago," Potts explained, in a press release, "has negotiated with ESPN and SportsMax to have the mega event televised through a delayed broadcast. This for Trinidad and Tobago is a tremendous opportunity not only for our boxers but for the country and the international exposure it will gain. ESPN and SportsMax will not only televise our boxing event, but they will also feature various aspects of our country and what we have to offer. This is a tremendous avenue to launch our sport tourism industry.

"We are appealing to the Tourism Development Company (TDC) to lend its support to this venture and we are appealing to corporate Trinidad and Tobago to partner with us in this once in a lifetime opportunity. This is a great opportunity for the business sector to partner with us to display on the international stage what we have to offer and the return on this investment especially for brand awareness and the recognition is astronomical."

In related news, Trumpet has intensified his training with increased sparring sessions at the Fine Line gym, in Chaguanas, where both he and Ramnarine train. Ramnarine is expected to travel to Florida, USA to complete preparations for her June 25 fight. She has promised to deliver a knockout performance on the night.
