Club Sando wins 12-0 again in WoLF.
By Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian).

Afiyah Cornwall made it eight goals in two matches when she scored five times to lead Club Sando to a second straight 12-0 win in the T&T Women’s League Football, this time over Police FC at the Arima Municipal Stadium, Arima on Sunday.

Winners by the same 12-0 margin against Atlas International Academy in the previous round led by a beaver trick from Alexcia Ali, Club Sando was led by goals from Cornwall in the ninth, 22nd, 36th, 41st, and 73rd minutes while first-half substitute Dennecia Prince added a beaver trick in the 35th, 45+2, 50th and 65th minutes.

Kelly-Ann Williams had opened the scoring for Club Sando as early as the seventh minute, before she added another in the 53rd minute, while Javannah Moreno got the other item for the winners in the 55th.

The win was the fourth from as many matches on the ten-club Claire George Trinidad Conference standings for Club Sando to climb to a maximum of 12 points, three ahead of fellow unbeaten club Defence Force who blanked St Augustine/Cunupia United 2-0 with a strike each from Nathifah Hackshaw in the 16th minute, and substitute Laurelle Theodore in the 59th in the other match at Arima.

Down South at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, Shenelle Jordan fired in seven goals in Play Fit FC’s similar 12-0 trashing the University of the West Indies (UWI) FC.

Jordan netted in the ninth, 17th, 26th, 48th, 78th, 80th, and 88th minutes for Play Fit in the lopsided contest while Xenell Perreira added two goals, in the fourth, and 57th, and Chelsea Dean (22nd), Shianne Best (71st), and Kayla Maillard (74th), one each.

At the Eddie Hart Ground, Tunapuna, host club, Trincity Nationals whipped Atlas Athletic International Academy 6-1 for their second win in three matches.

On Saturday at St Anthony’s College Ground, Westmoorings, former national striker Jo-Marie Lewis scored two second-half goals to seal AC Port-of-Spain’s 5-0 thumping of winless Queen’s Park Cricket Club.

Lewis found the target in the 79th and 80th minutes while Daneelyah Salandy (60th), Akeela Oliver (63rd), and Mariah Williams (82nd) chipped in with one each.

Two matches were played on Sunday in the Jamilya Muhammad Tobago Conference with

Black Panthers needing a strike two minutes into time added-on from Shakira Charles to eke out a 1-0 win over Jewels while

Tobago Chicas got a double from Amelia Jacob in the 48th, and 73rd, and one from Sterle Timothy in the 44th to ease past Combined Ballerz 3-0.

Club Sando's Ali, Debesette spank Trincity Nationals.
T&T Newsday Reports.

THE deadly duo of Alexcia Ali and Khadidra Debesette – who have been in flying form this season – poisoned their victims once again last weekend as they scored two goals each to lead Club Sando Women to a comfortable 4-0 victory over fellow title contenders Trincity Nationals, at the Eddie Hart Recreation Ground, Tacarigua on Sunday.

Both teams went into the sixth match day with massive wins in their previous fixtures: Club Sando had beaten Police Women 12-0 and Trincity Nationals were triumphant in a 14-1 thrashing against the same opponent two days later.

However, on the day, Club Sando proved to be the better outfit as they dominated the team from the east in their own backyard. Ali and Debesette’s braces ensured that the southerners made the best of their territorial advantage on the pitch and cemented their status as title chasers.

Elsewhere, at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, AC Port of Spain Women cruised past Playfit Football Academy 3-1 in an enthralling encounter.

TT women’s star Naiomi Guerra opened the scoring for the visitors before her national team-mate Maya Matouk netted a double to give the northerners a 3-0 lead a half-time.

Playfit were fortunate to go into the break only three goals down as Matouk struck the woodwork twice, minutes before the interval.

In the second half, Playfit’s marquee striker Shenelle Jordan beat Port of Spain’s sleeping offside trap to pull the scoreline back to 3-1.

Jordan’s goal followed her high-scoring tally in Playfit’s previous fixture against the University of the West Indies (UWI) Women, where she scored seven in a 10-0 win.

Following many valiant attempts to find another goal, Jordan’s lone item proved to be a mere consolidation for the league debutants.

At the Hasely Crawford Stadium, league leaders Defence Force continued their march to the title with an astounding 5-1 victory over Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) Women.

Laurel Theodore, who scored in Defence Force’s 2-0 triumph against St Augustine/Cunupia United last weekend, netted two on the occasion to drive the dagger into QPCC’s defence.

Shania Lewis, Shurella Mendez and Tamika Issac then joined the scoring party for the table-toppers.

However, there would be a stain on their clean sheet as Stephanie Woo Ling got on the scoresheet for QPCC.

In the Saturday fixture, Atlas Athletic International Academy and Police Women earned their first point of the season following a 1-1 draw at the Eddie Hart Recreation Ground.

After a tight battle, Ornika Whiskey put herself on the scoresheet for Atlas and Chelcy Ralph found the net for Police Women. Neither team could have been separated at the final whistle, and they both shared a point each to end a run of losses since the start of the campaign.

The final fixture of the match day between St Augustine/Cunupia United and UWI Women did not play owing to UWI forfeiting the match. As a result, St Augustine/Cunupia were awarded three points and a 3-0 win by default, based on the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

Cornwall keeps Club Sando on title path, Trincity Nationals blasts UWI 19-0
By Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian)

National player Afiya Cornwall came off the bench to score a brace as Club Sando continued their march towards lifting the Trinidad Claire George Conference crown of the T&T Women’s League Football (WoLF) with a 3-0 win over St Augustine/Cunupia United on Sunday.

Playing at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, Javanah Moreno netted in the 11th minute for Club Sando to lead 1-0 at the half-time interval before Cornwall who replaced former T&T international Khadidra Debestte on the hour mark, added items in the 68th and 89th to complete the win, their eighth from as many matches to remain the lone team with a 100 percent winning record as well.

Down at the Hasely Crawford Stadium training field in Mucurapo, AC Port-of-Spain (AC PoS) kept alive their dream of securing the title with a 2-0 blanking of fellow title-chaser Defence Force with Anique Walker scoring in the ninth and T&T international Naiomi Guerra in the 21st.

The win lifted AC PoS into sole possession of the second spot with 21 points from eighth matches, now three ahead of the previously perfect Army/Coast-Guard women combination, who still have a match in hand on the top duo.

At the University of the West Indies St Augustine ground, national defender Crystal Molineaux banged in six goals to fire Trincity Nationals to a 19-0 drubbing of the University of the West Indies.

Ketara Munroe helped herself to a beaver trick and Shanelle Warrick a hat trick in the lopsided victory while Diamond Baptiste and Natisha John fired in two goals each, and Lee Ann Kirby, and Ranelle Pascall, the others.

In the two other matches played, Play Fit edged Atlas Athletic International Academy 3-2 behind a pair of goals from Shenelle Jordan in the first match at Mucurapo on Sunday, while Queen's Park Cricket Club (QPCC) battled past host Police 2-1 at the Police Barracks training ground, St James in the lone match on Saturday.

Theodore bangs in 9 in Army 27-0 win
By Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian)

Laurel Theodore banged in nine goals to lead Defence Force to an emphatic 27-0 mauling of the University of the West Indies (UWI) in a rescheduled match to stay in the hunt for the Trinidad Claire George Conference of the T&T Women’s League Football (WoLF) title on Tuesday night.

Playing at UWI's St Augustine ground, Theodore, who was voted 'Player of the Match' was off the mark within the first minute of the kick-off and doubled her and the team's tally in the second minute followed by further strikes in the 44th, 53rd, 63rd, 65th, 72nd, 86th, and 90th minute of the one-sided contest.

The duo of Shania Lewis (4th, 25th, 40th, 57th) and Aaliyah Prince (11th, 45th, 45th, 59th) helped themselves to beaver tricks while Shanelle Arjoon also fired in a hat trick in the 12th, 62nd, and 90th for the winner as the Army/Coast-Guard combination team boosted its goal difference ahead of its title-decider with current table leader Club Sando.

Not to be overshadowed, Sheneil Findley (78th, 82nd) added a second-half double while there were also items from the quartet of Jo-Marie Lewis (22nd), Nathifa Hackshaw (45th), Tamika Isaac (76th), and Jalene Sobers (81st) while UWI's Danielle Xavier scored an own goal in the 41st.

The win lifted Defence Force, who was coming off a title-denting 2-0 loss against AC Port-of-Spain back into second spot with 21 points from eight matches, the same as AC PoS but with a healthier goal difference of plus-75 to plus-45, while Club Sando leads with 24 points and a goal-difference of plus-54, having yet to allow a goal against in eight matches played.

Going into the final round of matches, Club Sando just needs to avoid defeat against Defence Force to claim the title, while the latter needs nothing less than three points which will see the title heading Chaguaramas, due to their superior goal difference.

Club Sando Women top Claire George regular season.
T&T Newsday Reports.

CLUB Sando Women confirmed their place as the top team in the Claire George regular season of the TT Women’s League Football (WoLF) following a 0-0 stalemate against Defence Force Women at the St James Police Barracks on Sunday evening.

The Southerners dominated the campaign without loss and their sole tie came on the final day of the regular season against the Army. They also endured the entire competition with no goals conceded and 56 goals scored.

On the day, in a tightly contested encounter, neither team could have found the net, despite having a healthy goal-scoring record this season.

The best chance of the match came in the 36th minute when Club Sando were awarded a penalty for handball in the penalty area. In-form forward, Afiyah Cornwall, stepped up to take the responsibility of capitalising on the opportunity, but she saw her strike rattle the crossbar and cleared by the Defence Force backline.

The scoreless draw meant that Club Sando kept their ninth clean sheet in nine games throughout the campaign, making custodian Keri Myers the best goalkeeper of the regular season.

Both teams advanced to the playoff round of the Claire George conference where Club Sando will enter the semifinal stage as regular season winners.

In the prior fixture at the Barracks, Police Women earned their first win of the season – on the last day of the season – against fellow strugglers, University of the West Indies (UWI) Women. Both teams were second-from-last and last in the standings, and the fixture proved to be a match of pride for the respective outfits.

The officers, who had only earned a point until the final day, showed power and finesse over their bewildered opponents. Chinade Prudent opened the scoring for the policewomen in the eighth minute via a powerful effort from outside of the penalty area, which flew past UWI goalkeeper, Nadia James.

It only took Police 12 minutes to double their lead, courtesy Tyeisha Griffith. Chelcy Ralph netted the third in the 39th minute and gave her team a firm lead at the half-time interval.

The second half brought more misery to the university players as three consecutive Griffith goals in the 47th, 64th and 71st minutes increased the score to 6-0. Ralph got herself on the scoresheet again in the 77th minute before Griffith netter her fifth of the match to complete an 8-0 drubbing, and condemned the UWI Women to a campaign without a single point and 114 goals conceded with no goals scored.

Up next for the Claire George Conference will be the conference playoffs, which will consist of the top six teams after the final round of play in the regular season. Following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday, the six clubs in the playoffs are: Club Sando Women, Athletic Club Port-of-Spain (AC POS) Women, Defence Force Women, Trincity Nationals, Playfit Football Academy and St Augustine/Cunupia United.

Club Sando and AC POS, as the top two teams in the regular season, will enter the playoffs in the semifinals. The preliminary playoff fixtures will be contested by Defence Force vs St Augustine/Cunupia United and Trincity Nationals vs Playfit FA at dates to be determined by the TT Football Association (TTFA) and WoLF.

The winner of Defence Force vs St Augustine/Cunupia United will face Club Sando in the first semifinal and AC POS will await the winner of Trincity Nationals vs Playfit FA to contest the second semifinal.

AC PoS, Club Sando clash to Trinidad WoLF title Sunday.
By Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian).

Regular-season winner Tiger Tanks Club Sando and runner-up AC Port-of-Spain (Pos) will clash in the Trinidad Claire George Conference final of the T&T Women’s League Football (WoLF) at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, Port-of-Spain on Sunday (December 10) from 6 pm.

Two hours earlier at the same venue, losing semifinalists, Defence Force and Trincity Nationals will play for third place.

Last month in the semifinals, AC Port-of-Spain rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat Trincity Nationals 4-3 in the first semifinal.

Former T&T and West Indies women’s cricketer Lee-Ann Kirby scored a pair of goals, in the 29th and 31st minutes and Jonelle Warrick converted a penalty kick for Trincity Nationals in the 45+3 to hold a shock 3-1 lead at the half, with Naomi Guerra also scoring a penalty for AC Port-of-Spain in the 38th.

However, Trincity Nationals was made to play the second half with ten players after captain Shenelle Warrick picked up two quick yellow cards in the 44th and 45+1 for dissent by referee Trenton Toney.

In the second half, AC PoS made their player advantage count to great effect with three goals without reply to turn around the match and snatch an unlikely victory.

Firstly, Rhea Belgrave scored in the 50th to reduce the margin to 3-2, while Tamara Johnson made it 3-3 in the 72nd, followed by Shakeema Forestine’s winner five minutes later to secure their team a spot in the final against regular-season winners Tiger Tanks Club Sando, who battled past Defence Force 2-1 in the second semifinal at the same venue.

The tension seemed too much for Trincity Nationals coach Joel Warrick as he was also dismissed for a second yellow card soon after AC PoS took the lead for the first time in the contest in the 78th minute after getting his first caution in the 46th.

For Club Sando, T&T women’s team winger Alexcia Ali headed in the opener in the eighth minute from a corner swung in by Dennecia Prince, while it was the latter who doubled her team’s advantage in the 60th minute, capitalising on a misdirected defensive clearance to fire past goalkeeper Nicolette Craig.

With five minutes left in the match, Defence Force was handed a lifeline when referee Nathalya Williams blew for a penalty kick after Jo-Marie Lewis was bundled over in the six-yard box by Club Sando’s Kelly-Ann Williams and the diminutive Aaliyah Prince confidently stepped up and beat goalkeeper Keri Meyers to her left to set up an intriguing final five minutes.

But, despite the seven minutes of injury time, Club Sando was able to withstand the late efforts of Defence Force to come away with the deserved win and a spot in the final.

The lone blemish for the Southerners was the late dismissal of defender Abishai Guy, who was shown a second yellow card by referee Williams for dissent.

In the two quarterfinals played at the Mahaica Sporting Complex, Point Fortin, earlier this month, Trincity Nationals had an emphatic 7-0 win over Play Fit Football Academy led by a beaver-trick from Natasha John while Defence Force was awarded a defaulted victory over St Augustine/Cunupia.

Cornwall's brace hands Club Sando WoLF title
T&T Guardian

Super-sub Afiya Cornwall was the difference between the teams that led to a comfortable 3-0 victory for Tiger Tanks Club Sando United over AC Port of Spain (Pos) in the Women's Football League (WoLF) final on Wednesday night at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo that handed her team the title.

Cornwall was introduced to the game with about half-hour remaining on the clock and turned things around, scoring two times, including a beauty of strike from some 20 yards out to catch AC PoS goalkeeper Tenesha Palmer off her line.

The teams traded punches throughout the opening half but both returned to the dressing rooms at the half-time interval empty-handed. Club Sando up to Wednesday night, had not lost a single match and had only conceded one goal all season. However, coach Arnold Murphy's introduction of Cornwall, who they have labelled 'Super-sub' due to her previous exploits, did not disappoint.

She got her first goal from a Palmer dump out, which was picked up by Denecia Prince and released to the skilful Alexi Ali. The latter, known for her ability to tear defences apart instead, quickly threaded a pass inside the area for Cornwall to control with one touch and hit low into the bottom of the left-hand corner of Palmer's goal in the 75th minute for a 1-0 advantage.

The goal had released the strain on an already tense encounter all night that called for a moment of magic. And this Cornwall produced in the 81st minute that opened the gap between the teams to 2-0.

This time, Club Sando turned a previous AC PoS attack into a counterattack as Renee Mike threaded a long ball beautifully for Cornwall on the left side of the AC Port of Spain goal area, and the latter cut inside before her stunning shot sailed well over Palmer into the far left corner for her brace.

By then, the game seemed to have been surrendered by the Capital City women's team inside time added on. Still, Ali could not resist the temptation when she confronted Salandy at the edge of the AC Port of Spain goal area.

Using her pace to get past her marker, Ali was later bundled over by Salandy inside the box, forcing referee Cecile Hinds to point to the penalty spot in the 92nd minute. Khadesha Debisette then sent Palmer the wrong way to score her team's third goal in the 3-0 victory to lift the title.

Coach Murphy said afterwards that his team was never concerned in the match, having played three matches against men's teams for the encounter.

"We were very confident going into the match, we are a very confident team. We have not lost a game this season and we have only conceded one goal, a penalty from Defence Force.

"But I think what really helped us was that we played against the men's team in the lead-up to this match. In the first match, we were beaten 3-2, we lost the second match 6-1 and then we won the third practice game 6-2. It was not really about the result for us, but rather the preparation for the girls, so we were brimming with confidence for that match," Murphy explained yesterday.

Murphy is a multiple-time winner of the Secondary Schools Football League's girls' titles with Debe High and also coached the Petrotrin women's team with national captain Izla Browne.

Meanwhile, in a third-place match, Defence Force demolished Trincity Nationals 6-0, courtesy of goals from Shania Lewis (8th minute), Laurelle Theodore (12th minute), Aaliyah Trim (23rd minute), Kamile Degale (51st minute), Aaliyah Prince (63rd minute) and Kalicia Robinson in the 68th minute.
