Another murder charge for Kartel
Jamaica Observer

DETECTIVES from the Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two persons for the murder of Clive Williams o/c ‘Lizard’ who was murdered on August 16, 2011 in Havendale, St Andrew.

The persons charged are Adijah Palmer o/c ‘Vybz Kartel’ and Kiro Jones o/c ‘Ray Jones’. Palmer and Jones were charged this evening.

Arrangements are being made to have Palmer and Jones brought before the courts shortly.

Kartel is already in jail on murder, conspiracy to murder, and illegal possession of a firearm charges.

He is scheduled to return to court on October 26 on those charges, which are in connection with the July 12 murder of Barrington 'Bossie' Burton, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was reportedly killed while standing with friends along Walker's Avenue in Gregory Park.

Kartel, who was arrested on September 30 at a hotel in New Kingston by police from the Flying Squad, is also charged for 4.3 ounces of ganja found at the premises. However, he pleaded not guilty to possession of ganja and is expected to return to court on November 10 on those charges.

BREAKING NEWS: Guilty - Vybz Kartel, Three Co-Accused Convicted, Shane Williams Freed
By Barbara Gayle (Jamaica Gleaner)

Dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel and his four co-accused have been found guilty of the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams marking the end to a keenly watched trial that has lasted for 65 days.

The eleven-member jury began deliberating at 3:45 p.m.

Initially, the eleven-member jury deliberated for 1 hour and 53 minutes before returning a 10-1 verdict.

They were sent back to reconsider because the verdict was not unanimous and was reached under two hours.

The jurors then went back to consider the matter before again returning to the courtroom.

Shawn Campbell – GUILTY
Kahira Jones – GUILTY
Shane Williams – Not GUILTY
Andre St John – GUILTY

Kartel, 38, whose real name is Adidja Palmer and his co-accused went on trial on November 20 in the Home Circuit Court.

They had been in custody since September 2011.

They were charged with the murder of 27-year-old Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, of Waterford, St Catherine.

The Crown represented by senior deputy director of public prosecutions, Jeremy Taylor, and Crown Counsel Leighton Morris alleged that on August 16, 2011 ‘Lizard’ was beaten to death at Kartel's house at 7 Swallowfield Avenue, Havendale, St Andrew over two missing guns.

The prosecution relied on circumstantial evidence and common design to prove its case against the men.

Those found guilty are to return to court for sentencing on March 27.

Kartel and five other men had been charged with William’s murder, but at the start of the trial in November last year, the fifth co-accused, fashion designer, Calvin Haye, was freed after the Crown offered no evidence against him.

Kartel, co-accused get life
Jamaica Observer

Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer and his three co-accused were Thursday slapped with life sentences for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

Kartel is to serve 35 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole. His co-accused, Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell is to serve 25 years before he is eligible for parole, Kahira Jones- 25 years and Andre St John, 30 years.

Justice Lennox Campbell handed down the sentences after listening to summations from each defence lawyer in the case.

A guilty verdict was returned for all four on March 13, ending 65 days of trial for the beating death of Williams, which police say occurred on August 16, 2011 at a house owned by Palmer in Havendale, St Andrew.

Shane Williams, the fourth co-accused was found not guilty by the 11 member jury.

Williams was killed, police say, over the disappearance of two missing firearms.

His body is yet to be found.

Good discussion, I wanted to hear Ninja views more since he's an experience man in the business. The unfortunate thing with Kartel is those graphic violent lyrics he used in some of his songs will be brought to light. That doesn't help given his current situation since people already started to associate him as a gangster and maybe that had a part to play in the jury's decision.

Can't understand why someone as rich as Kartel would threaten to kill someone else over shoes?!
These voice notes are very damning!
What a disappointment for someone who was making so much money from dancehall music.
Couldn't he leave the gangster lifestyle behind seeing that he had so much to lose and that lifestyle would have eventually caught up with him.

JAMAICA POLICE HEAD SAYS VYBZ KARTEL RESONSIBLE FOR OVER 100 MURDERS

JAMAICA POLICE HEAD SAYS VYBZ KARTEL RESONSIBLE FOR OVER 100 MURDERS | Boom Champions 94.1 FM

Jamaican police commissioner Owen Ellington recently made some scathing statements about embattled dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel, who is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison after being convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Throughout the high profile murder trial, fans of the incarcerated deejay have accused the police force and the Crown of an unfair trial to bring down Kartel.

However, during a recent interview on All Angles, Ellington says that Vybz Kartel was the mastermind behind a gang that murdered over 100 people.

“Vybz Kartel led a gang that was responsible for well over a hundred murders,” Owen Ellington said. “We have been telling the country this for a very long time. And everytime we move against this gang we were criticized, we were condemned and we were accused of being malicious.”

Owen Ellington also weighed in on the controversy over police tampering with the evidence in the highly publicized trial that convicted Vybz Kartel and three of his friends on March 13, 2014.

Vybz Kartel will be eligible for parole in 35 years.

The four men have already filed appeals for a new trial.
