T&T go after early points in Guatemala
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFF)

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 footballers had their first training session at the match venue on Wednesday  morning ahead of their opening CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match against Mexico on Thursday on an artificial surface at the Estadio Cementos Progreso at 6:30pm

Head coach Even Pellerud conducted a tactical session with the team at the Radisson Hotel, Guatemala City on Tuesday afternoon as they looked towards what will be one of the tougher assignments against a Mexican team that participated at the previous Under 17 Women’s World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010.

“We spent the afternoon conducting a team meeting, including tactical points and also mental and psychological points leading up to the first match on Thursday,” Pellerud told TTFF Media.

“We had the walk through session at the  stadium for the first time and then decided to give the girls rest time in the evening. The players are all in a good mood and very energetic at this time. We know it will be a tough assignment but they girls have prepared hard and have been looking forward to this day for a very long time. We will give it our all to try and secure one of the qualifying spots,” he added.

The match stadium is  home to popular Guatemala professional side C.S.D. Comunicaciones.

Some of the players will also sit their CXC examinations while in Guatemala through an arrangement between the TTFF and the Ministry of Education.

“We have included this phase of the preparation into whole scheme of works because the education of the girls is so important to their overall development. Some of these exams will take place on the days in between our matches but we have scheduled things accordingly to ensure they are comfortable and ready for both sets of assignments,” Pellerud added.

In the opening game of the tournament on Wednesday Canada blanked Panama 6-0. Summer Clarke scored three times in the first half and was involved in another two to lead the  defending champion to the win.

The teams are vying for a place at the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup in September in Azerbaijan.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Well look at the the sacrifices these young ladies making for football. I have no issues with sacrifices, but there should be just rewards. My dentist daughter actually was invited after she went to TT from DC on trials. But she would have to miss 3 weeks of school  for this tournament. They decided otherwise.

Check out how many USA based Mexicans played for Mexico. Did they not miss school? Love of country and wearing the nation"s colors is a privilege  and an honor Something we are sadly lacking in T&T. This just may be a once in a life time opportunity.

The rhetoric sounds very familiar and then "blam" you on the next flight back to Trinidad. If their exams preparations is anything like their football "scheme of works" then prepare to fail. Once again, another lame effort by an incompetent organization exhibiting a relentless urge to embarrass the young men and women of this nation on the international field of play. What a f@&*ing fiasco.
I am the punishment of God...If you had not comitted great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.
