So similar, yet so different. The orderliness, precision, music, the dancing, the multitude of people. Amazing.

Looking at the amount of live street drumming in these other carnivals is evidence that the banning of the African drums for a period of time in Trinidad Carnival has had a lasting impact.
Yes it may have led to Tamboo Bamboo which was also banned and which in turn led to the Steelbands but it means that this live drumming element is now lacking from our T&T carnival and should be brought back.

May be some of the Carnivals bands in T&T need to make a concerted effort to bring back live street drumming like this with dance routines as I finding it much more entertaining than viewing folks in bikini costumes doing little or nothing to entertain and show their natural talents for dancing or drumming.
Its time to bring back the live drumming bands and also the tamboo bamboo, its also time to bring back more Steelbands on the road to compliment them. This is the real culture that seems to be sadly dying with the take over of bikini mas.

Bring back drumming, tamboo-bamboo, rythm section, steelband in carnival. Boy, you crazy or what, dah is old time ting, that too African. We have to move with the times, all electronics, computers, i-phone, i-pad music. Look!,  the people  who participate in carnival eh interest in art. just give them a piece to wear and crank up computer generated music and they good to go. They people who interested in that kind of carnival should just do it. But don't expect to win band of the year.
