TTs CL Team 2013.
« on: May 13, 2013, 01:10:17 PM »
India will be putting out 3 teans for the upcoming 2013 CL,we could easily be without Pollard,Bravo and Rampaul, there is every likelihood that those could be the first 3 teams in any order. We can take satisfaction that KKR is out so we can have Narine, without batsmen we are not really going to challenge any team so Bravo and Pollard is to big a loss.

So we could lose Cooper and even Badree too.

Yup. It bad. We will have to be real lucky if we get any of them. Narine looking like the only sure bet.

There's no doubt that we may even lose more because the IPL is set to introduce a tenth franchise,I expect we could lose Marlon Richards,Gabriel and Simmo, there is an outside chance for Khan Emritt and Yannic Ottley. We await the auction for 2014.

Tournament is a joke on the whole. ICC needs to run it. Too many teams getting treated unfairly, and the competition rigged for Indian teams. Soon it wouldn't even make sense to send Caribbean teams.

A few notes:

1. The CLT20 is not an ICC tournament, it's a tournament organized by the Indian, Australian and South African cricket boards. The other teams are essentially guest entrants. It's run exactly as you'd expect it to be if you look at it that way. The name of the tournament is unfortunate and confusing and leads people to think it's like the UEFA Champions League. It's not.

2. It's a club tournament, the only region to send national teams was the Caribbean. This will be the last year for a T&T team in this tournament. The 2014 entrant will come from the Caribbean Premier League.

3. The English board has already decided to not let the BCCI dictate it's schedule and has withdrawn from this tournament. We don't have to go, but it's proven to be an excellent showcase for Caribbean T20 talent.

4. The WICB had an opportunity to join back when it started, but didn't like the terms. (which do tend to favour India, though, to be fair, that's where all the money is for cricket).

Greenidge boasts of strong T&T batting in CPL
T&T Guardian Reports.

Coach of the Trinidad franchise team for the inaugural Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Gordon Greenidge says his club’s batting line-up is one of the strongest in the tournament. The Trinidad franchise includes ace New Zealander Ross Taylor as its international franchise player with T&T’s Darren Bravo, Kevon Cooper and Adrian Barath, Australia’s Aaron Finch and Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien in their ranks.

Finch has an impressive T20 average of 35.32 with a highest score of 111 not out while Darren (34.87) and his brother Dwayne (28.26) are also dependable with the bat. Taylor averages 30.02 with a highest score of 111 not out while O’Brien has also scored a century in the shortest format of the game.

“It’s a line-up that is as strong as any of the other teams in the tournament,” Greenidge declared. “It’s strong enough but we can’t leave it up to anybody else to get the job done (when we’re batting). If we do what we’re supposed to do, then we can put up a competitive score consistently”.

The franchise is captained by Dwayne Bravo, the highest wicket-taker in this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While Bravo will be supported by Bajan pacer Fidel Edwards, spinner Samuel Badree and left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn, the former West Indies opening batsman has conceded that the franchise is a quality bowler short.

Greenidge has admitted that last Wednesday’s player auction did not turn out exactly as the Trinidad franchise had planned as players they had targeted were snapped up by other franchises.

Trinidad and Tobago: Dwayne Bravo (captain), Ross Taylor, Darren Bravo, Fidel Edwards, Aaron Finch, Samuel Badree, Kevon Cooper, Kevin O’Brien, Sulieman Benn, Adrian Barath, Delorn Johnson, Nicholas Pooran, Yannick Cariah, Miguel Cummins and Justin Guillen. (CMC)

Mystery spinner named in T&T T20 training squad
Trinidad Express

The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board yesterday named 29 players to start training on Saturday in preparation for September’s Champions League Twenty20 in India.
But missing from the squad are Indian Premier League (IPL) stars Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Kevon Cooper.
The trio’s respective IPL franchises all qualified for the Champions League T20, and with the impressive performances those players, their IPL franchises will most likely retain their services for the lucrative Champions League T20—Pollard with IPL champions Mumbai Indians, Cooper with Rajasthan Royals and Bravo with Chennai Super Kings.
But there is also some good news for T&T with spinner Sunil Narine in the training squad after his franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, missed out on Champions League T20 qualification.
Also in the training squad are West Indies players Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Lendl Simmons, Shannon Gabriel and Samuel Badree.
The players will attend a practice sessions at Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre, Balmain, Couva on Saturday.

T&T Training Squad:
Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul, William Perkins, Evin Lewis, Sunil Narine, Devon Nelson, Justin Guillen, Sherwin Ganga, Adrian Ali, Nicholas Sookdeosingh, Imran Khan, Adrian Barath, Kjorn Ottley, Yannick Ottley, Denesh Ramdin, Jason Mohammed, Yannic Cariah, Nicholas Pooran, Rayad Emrit, Teshawn Castro, Darren Bravo, Derone Davis, Samuel Badree, Amit Jaggernauth, Navin Stewart, Khary Pierre, Ancil Bhagan, Shannon Gabriel, Marlon Richards.

Perkins can be explosive on his day... I would put in Rampaul at the expense of Gabriel. The team is short of good allrounders (no Dwayne Bravo, Pollard or Cooper) so that's why Emrit gets a play...
