Zone B Combined Campuses & Colleges Vs Barbados
Venue: Shaw Park....Start Date: 2014-02-06 09:00:AM   Local Time

Barbados
Kevin Stoute takes over the captaincy from Kirk Edwards, but the Barbadian side remains mostly unchanged from the one that missed out on a place in ast year’s semi-finals.
The addition of Fidel Edwards, Tino Best and Jason Holder should strengthen their bowling, while Dwayne Smith is sure to be explosive with the bat.

The combination could be lethal and will make for a mouth-watering clash against hosts T&T on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Oval in what has been described as a must-win match for both teams.
The former skipper Edwards is also likely to play a key role with the bat after some good performances for the West Indies and West Indies A in recent 50 over matches.
His most recent 50 over innings was an unbeaten 123 against New Zealand. If he can maintain that form, then the other Zone B teams could find themselves in all kinds of trouble.

BARBADOS: Kevin Stoute (captain), Sulieman Benn, Tino Best, Rashidi Boucher, Carlos Brathwaite, Kraigg Brathwaite, Jonathan Carter, Shane Dowrich (wicket-keeper), Fidel Edwards, Kirk Edwards, Jason Holder, Ashley Nurse, Dwayne Smith, Kenroy Williams; Hendy Springer (coach).

Combined Campuses and Colleges

The team better known as CCC or “The Students” surprised many, including T&T en route to last year’s final.Their squad is almost identical to last year’s except for the appointment of Guyanese all-rounder Steven Jacobs as skipper.
The hard-hitting middle order batsman and deceptive off-spinner took over the captaincy from Kyle Corbin and will be looking to improve his credentials as a leader.
There are four Jamaicans, six Bajans, one Trinidad and Tobago player and two Windward Islanders in the CCC lineup, and despite reaching last year’s final, “The Students” will again start this year’s competition as underdogs.
One thing is certain though, the CCC squad will have the respect of fellow Zone B team Barbados and T&T, having beaten both in last year’s tournament.

CCC: Steven Jacobs (captain), Anthony Alleyne, Ryan Austin, Kyle Corbin, Akeem Dewar, Kavem Hodge, Kyle Mayers, Kristopher Ramsaran, Wayne Morgan, Shacaya Thomas, Raymon Reifer, Chadwick Walton (wicket-keeper), Kesrick Williams, Floyd Reifer (player/coach).

Barbados, CCC in crucial clash
Story Created: Feb 5, 2014 at 11:39 PM ECT

Barbados will be ruthless in their approach to today’s key NAGICO Super50 Zone B match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at Shaw Park in Tobago bowling off at 9 a.m.
The Bajans are coming off a 28-run win over hosts Trinidad and Tobago and will be looking to dominate against the CCC as both teams push for a place in the semi-finals.

Barbados’ influential left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn, said yesterday they will be bringing their best for the CCC who are also coming off a big win, having defeated the Leeward Islands by 160 runs in their opening match on Saturday.
Speaking about the impending clash with CCC, Benn said: “We have a general idea how they are going to play. We play against them a lot. We have respect for every cricketer but at the end of the day we have to be ruthless and do our job.”

Benn, who took four for 39 to lead Barbados to victory over T&T on Sunday, said he was motivated to up his game after being named in the West Indies provisional squad for next year’s ICC World Cup.
Benn’s previous ODI appearance for the regional side was in 2011.
“We have been training for a little while now and me not playing for a long time now at the national level (West Indies level) being in the 30-man squad for the West Indies is added motivation for me to perform,” he said.
CCC will also have incentive to up their game. With T&T also gaining a bonus point against the Leewards, they will want the security of four more points today before facing the home side in their final group game on Sunday. And with player/coach Floyd Reifer retiring from regional cricket at the end of the season, the CC boys will definitely want to give the veteran a good sendoff by winning the Super50. Victory today will be crucial to keep that dream alive.

That outfield drains very slowly, so if enough rain falls, play may not be possible today.
Live large and prosper!

11am ..local time..
There will be an inspection at 12pm by the Umpires. All the covers are back on
the field as a drizzle comes down.

11:30am

Haven't heard from the Umpires since they had a brief inspection at 12pm but it
is drizzling quite heavily now

1pm local time
Great news. There's just one cover left on the field. We look like we'll be starting very soon.

Uh-oh. Back on come the covers. We had a little bit of sun for a few minutes there. It's drizzling again.

That's it folks. The outfield is just too wet and the match is abandoned.
