Chubby gives $55,000 to Primary Schools football.
By Kwame Williams (Guardian).

The National Primary Schools Football League got a $55,000 boost from local beverage company SM Jaleel and its brand Chubby, as the NPSFL Championships were launched yesterday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.
Over the years, the NPSFL has been a platform for some of the nation’s best footballers, some of who will represent T&T on Saturday against Bahrain in a crucial World Cup 2006 qualifier.
Rae-Ann Clement, brand manager of Chubby, elaborated on what the total sponsorship will include, listing payment for uniforms, footballs and trophies, refreshments at matches, transport for the teams in Trinidad to and from the game venues, and payment of officials’ fees.

Clement said:
“It is important to note that 2005 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Physical Education and Sport.
“Sports, as we all know, is an important co-curricular activity. Sport and sporting related activities have been and continue to be an integral part of a child’s education and development.
“It is important to note and remember, during this time when our national footballers are playing their way on the road to Germany, that such success would have been nurtured from their early years,” Clement added.
Also speaking at the launch was Ivor Niles, chairman of the NPSFL. He said:
“It is a pleasure for the NPSFL to be represented this year by Chubby. With Chubby coming on board we believe things will be easier as far as running the the tournament is concerned, so we look forward to a harmonious relationship with the sponsors.”
