What is next for T&T 4x100m relay ?
« on: February 16, 2015, 01:08:36 PM »
After Burns , Brown , Bledman and Thompson retire what is next for T&T ?  Over the past 10 years together with Callender and Sorrillo they have done well for T&T. Winning medals  in almost every major relay event. Who is generation next for T&T? Who will continue this fine run of medals for T&T?

I created a thread for Young T&T Prospects ages ago and if you guys were to keep it updated no one would need to be asking these questions as to who is on the horizon.

After Rio, it will have to be a younger breed to take over.

That goes back to my original question . Who will pick up the baton after these guys retire? I am not a Track expert but I can see the up side to the men 4x400, women 4x100 but I am not seeing any thing for the men 4x100. Even with the women 4x400 I can see a glimmer of hope.

Sadly there is nothing that's seriously world class coming down the pipeline right now, but I hope that will change shortly. This 2015-2017 championship cycle, will likely be the last hoorah for the majority for this bunch. Bledman is the youngest of the bunch and he turns 27 in 3 weeks.

More hopeful with the women 4x100 team than the men team at the moment.

Our top male 4x100 sprinters are aging and it seems like they have been getting slower the last two years. Leh we see what happens this year, but I hope we can have a smooth transition of young sprinters taking their place by running fast times.

According to Marc Burns in this interview we have talent coming up but they need the right amount of financial support for camps and proper preparations.

Olympians recount london and look forward to Brazil

Half of this country's successful Olympic contingent, most of whom are based abroad sat down and recounted their London 2012 experiences before the media today. Star names such as Marc Burns and the 4x100 Relay Squad, Cyclist Njisane Phillip and Triple Jumper, Ayanna Alexander. And while each was happy to share with the nation, their greatest memories from the games, the general consensus was that 2016 must be bigger and better.
