Scarborough Secondary beat Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive 2-0 in a repeat of 2004’s Secondary Schools’ Football League RBTT Inter Col Tobago Zone final, at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago, yesterday.
Last year Scarborough emerged 3-2 winners in extra time over their arch rivals at the same venue and while yesterday’s final was a prime opportunity for them to exact their revenge it was not to be as Scarborough proved, once again, to be the better team on the afternoon.
Corey Carrington opened the scoring early on for Scarborough t in the fifth minute as he surged down the left side and attempted to cross to a team-mate in the area but his cross was intercepted and deflected over the Signal Hill goal-keeper and into the back of the net.
The score remained at 1-0 until the half-time whistle but not for a lack of trying on the part of both outfits.
Shots at goal were expectedly few and far between as last year’s finalists defended doggedly until Scarborough won a 70th minute free-kick on the right side of the Signal Hill area.
Valton Brathwaite curled the kick into Signal Hill’s area and amid the resulting fracas Kelion Mc Kenna was able to head in Scarborough’s second of the match effectively ending the match as a contest and successfully defending their title.

Results:

Scarborough 2 (Corey Carrington 5th, Kelion Mc Kenna 70th) vs Signal Hill 0.

Malick Senior Comprehensive were struck another tragic blow when it lost female footballer Tracey Lindsay yesterday.
Lindsay, who was supposed to represent Malick against North Zone champions Providence Girls’ Catholic School in an InterCol match yesterday, died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope.
This is the second Malick footballer to die this season, after boys’ team defender Rudolph Charles collapsed and passed away during a match against Tranquillity at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in September.
Teachers at Malick were not able to give any details about Lindsay’s death, but said she was “ailing” at the time of her death.
This caused her to miss the team’s match against Toco Composite in Toco on Monday.
Providence and Malick will now meet on Monday at 3 pm at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

It will be a replay of last year’s RBTT East InterCol final when defending champion team St Augustine Senior Comprehensive takes on San Juan Secondary Comprehensive at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar from 4.15 pm today.
However, it will be the St Augustine “Green Machine” coming in as the underdog as the Bourg Mulatresse team, who proved to be the dominant force this season, comes in as the favourite.
San Juan is in search of its second title, already winning the Secondary Schools East Zone league competition.
To get to the final, San Juan in its semifinal match, made light work of Malabar Composite, beating them 3-0, on Tuesday.
That same day, St Augustine edged El Dorado Senior Comprehensive 3-2 in the first semifinal.
The San Juan team will be looking to captain Elijah Manners to lead them to victory.
Manners comes into the final as the leading scorer in the East Zone and he will be depending on Kadeem Gibbs and Anthony Guppy to give him support up front.
Goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel, who has done a good job thus far for the Keith Jeffrey-led San Juan team, will have his work cut out with the likes of St Augustine’s best—captain Shastri Spencer, Elton John and John Stewart—leading the attack.
