ASATT’s audited statements overdue.
By Mark Pouchet (Express).

FAILURE TO ACCOUNT

Despite receiving millions of dollars in Government subventions, the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) has not presented audited accounts since 2011.

The ASATT audited financial statements for 2012, 2013 and 2014 remain outstanding to date despite several calls by member clubs like Areios Aquatechs, Point Fortin Aqua Darts, Centre of Excellence Sea Hawks and Silver Sharks for the ASATT executive to immediately schedule an AGM where these accounts are supposed to be tabled.

The Sunday Express e-mailed questions to the current ASATT president Joseph Mc Leod attempting to gain comment on ASATT’s reasons for failing to present audited statements for those years and to get feedback from him on the matter of “ghost clubs” which showed up to vote at past ASATT AGMs, including the last election in October 2013 when Mc Leod commenced his term as the president.
ASATT’s 2011 financial statement was presented at the 2013 AGM.

The election of officers, which is limited to one year according to the ASATT constitution, was due in October 2014.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

This is not surprising if you look at who was former president for most of that period, and also the history of the organization. If I recall correctly, Anil Roberts made a stink about them when he first got in about them misusing funds prior to the PP being elected.

No one should be shocked it's deja vu with a new government.

It's simple...
We have had very little development of the sport over the past five years, which has been directly related to the national political climate. Certain individuals in positions of influence have not lived up to the expectations of their post, and are threatening to put the association into disripute.

The aquatics community has to speak out more, or it will continue.
Success will never take you by surprise.
