The dos Santos brothers (Villarreal and LA Galaxy) and Marco Fabian (Eintracht Frankfurt) have earned recalls for the upcoming friendlies versus New Zealand and Panama.

The squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Moises Munoz (Club America), Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul), Rodolfo Cota (Chivas)

Defenders: Hugo Ayala (Tigres), Hedgardo Marin (Chivas), Oswaldo Alanis (Chivas), Jordan Silva (Toluca), Jesus Duenas (Tigres), Jorge Torres Nilo (Tigres), Adrian Aldrete (Cruz Azul)

Midfielders: Luis Robles (Atlas), Jesus Molina (Santos Laguna), Jonathan dos Santos (Villarreal), Orbelin Pineda (Chivas), Erick Gutierrez (Pachuca)

Forwards: Elias Hernandez (Leon), Angel Sepulveda (Queretaro), Hirving Lozano (Pachuca), Isaac Brizuela (Chivas), Giovani dos Santos (LA Galaxy), Marco Fabian (Eintracht Frankfurt), Oribe Peralta (Club America), Alan Pulido (Chivas).

You'll note that several prominent names are missing. Primarily a Liga MX squad. Pretty clear what that means.

Chicharito headlines Mexico roster but Dos Santos, Corona out with injury

Chicharito headlines Mexico roster but Dos Santos, Corona out with injury
By Jon Arnold (goal.com)

Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio has named his squad to face Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago in World Cup qualification but was unable to include Giovani dos Santos, Jesus "Tecatito" Corona or Hirving Lozano because of injuries.

LA Galaxy star Dos Santos tweaked his right hamstring in the first half of the MLS side's loss to the Portland Timbers on Sunday while Corona and Lozano suffered injuries earlier in the month. Frankfurt midfielder Marco Fabian also misses the squad because of a lingering hip problem that has kept him out most of 2017.

Mexico's attack won't be entirely without star power, though. Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is fit and ready to go, as is Real Sociedad's Carlos Vela, who returned to action with a full 90 minutes last weekend after a knee issue had his status in doubt.

Osorio also called Tigres winger Jurgen Damm, America forward Oribe Peralta, Pumas winger Jesus Gallardo and Leon's Elias Hernandez as domestic-based attackers.

And Dos Santos' brother Jonathan, a central midfielder who is in fine form with Villarreal, is back in the team looking to reprise his starting role in Mexico's draw with Panama. PSV stars Andres Guardado and Hector Moreno also are fit and likely to start against the Ticos.

El Tri sits second in the CONCACAF qualification table, behind Costa Rica, which is off to a perfect start to the Hex after two games.

Mexico will open its camp March 19 in Mexico City before traveling to Cuernavaca, where it will train ahead of the March 24 game with Costa Rica.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (Granada), Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul), Alfredo Talavera (Toluca)

Defenders: Carlos Salcedo (Fiorentina), Diego Reyes (Espanyol), Rafa Marquez (Atlas), Nestor Araujo (Santos Laguna), Hector Moreno (PSV), Oswaldo Alanis (Chivas), Miguel Layun (Porto), Luis Reyes (Atlas)

Midfielders: Jurgen Damm (Tigres), Jonathan dos Santos (Villarreal), Hector Herrera (Porto), Andres Guardado (PSV), Jesus Molina (Monterrey), Jesus Gallardo (Pumas), Orbelin Pineda (Chivas), Jesus Duenas (Tigres), Luis Montes (Leon), Elias Hernandez (Leon)

Forwards: Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad), Raul JImenez (Benfica), Oribe Peralta (America), Javier Hernandez (Bayer Leverkusen)

Should be officially naming it after training in the morning tomorrow. Atlanta and Seattle announced Kenwyne and Joevin were called up though.

Figured out why we don't name squads till the last minute.

You have 25 players in training locally, only about a third of that local group will make the final squad. So my assumption was that DL had a local group training up till Saturday morning, those making the cut will be communicated to after that last session and then you announce the full squad inclusive of foreign based later that afternoon. Ideally you want everybody local to feel they have a chance up till the last minute so the sessions remain intensive.

Most other international teams do not have that local activity prior to assembly so they can announce a squad almost two weeks in advance.

Andres Guardado out of Mexico squad with leg injury

Andres Guardado out of Mexico squad with leg injury
By Tom Marshall (espnfc.com)

Mexico midfielder Andres Guardado will miss upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago, the national federation says.

Medical tests carried out on Monday morning showed PSV Eindhoven midfielder Guardado had an unspecified right leg injury, the FMF confirmed in a statement.

Guardado is set to stay with El Tri's squad for the key CONCACAF qualifying matches, despite the injury, while there was no immediate news on a replacement being called in.

The 30-year-old isn't the only absentee for Juan Carlos Osorio's squad. LA Galaxy's Giovani dos Santos, Porto's Jesus "Tecatito" Corona, Eintracht Frankfurt's Marco Fabian and Pachuca's Hirving Lozano all haven't traveled because of injury or lack of full match fitness.

Mexico is currently in second place in the Hexagonal standings, behind Costa Rica after two rounds of matches.

El Tri hosts Costa Rica on March 24 before facing Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain four days later.

15 goals against Dominican Republic, St Vincent, French Guiana, Curaçao and Antigua.

Not saying he is a bad player, but he need to step it up in big games.

Ah still have hope for him because I know he alright.

Tallest need to get his strategy right because we can't play this brand of football we played today against Mexico.. they will whip us with no mercy

Hart figured them out even without a full staff and support and limited funding and undermining..

Tallest has no excuses, he has everything at his disposal and a full team, he needs to come better than this mediocre display he had in terms of his Strategy against Panama
