Kraigg Brathwaite's 101 off 146 balls helped hosts Barbados off to a winning start in the 2017 WICB Regional Super50 as they trounced Guyana by 145 runs at Kensington Oval. Brathwaite's maiden List A hundred in his 31st match anchored the Barbados innings as they eventually finished on 302 for 7.
The bulk of the runs came during a 122-run third-wicket stand between Brathwaite and Jonathan Carter, who dominated their partnership while making a brisk 75 off 63 balls. Jason Holder took two wickets with the new ball to make early inroads in Guyana's chase before the twin spin tandem of Ashley Nurse and Sulieman Benn did the rest of the damage. Offspinner Nurse claimed 4 for 42 while left-arm spinner Benn finished with 4 for 35 as Guyana were bowled out for 157 in just 32 overs.
Combined Campuses and Colleges caused a stir at Three Ws Oval earlier in the day as they upset Jamaica by 75 runs. Amir Jangoo top-scored with 64 off 114 balls in CCC's battling total of 215 for 8, which turned out to be more than enough in the end.
Keon Harding wiped out Jamaica's top three inside the first seven overs before Mark Deyal took three more to wreck the Jamaica middle order. Jamaica were still in with a reasonable chance of chasing down the total at 103 for 5 after 24 overs with Brandon King on 48, but left-arm spinner Larry Edwards struck with the first ball of the 25th to remove King, sparking a collapse of 4 for 20 over the next six overs and Jamaica ultimately subsided for 140 in 35 overs.

Windwards off to a winning start

Windward Islands held off a determined effort from West Indies Under-19s on the opening day of Group A matches to win by 21 runs in North Sound. Sunil Ambris added 70 for the fourth wicket with captain Liam Sebastien and top-scored with 54 off 84 balls in Windwards' total of 221. Keemo Paul burrowed through the middle order before wrapping up the tail, taking the last wicket two balls into the 47th over to finish with figures of 4 for 31 for West Indies Under-19s.
In reply, Bhaskar Yadram scored 52 at No. 3 for the junior side but got little support as West Indies Under-19s struggled to string a decent partnership together. There were only two 40-plus partnerships in the innings: 45 runs between Yadram and Shamar Springer for the fourth wicket, and 40 runs between Paul and Kirstan Kallicharan for the sixth wicket. Paul and Kallicharan were part of six batsmen down the order who reached double-figures but couldn't make it past 25 as extras wound up the next best contributor behind Yadram with 32 runs. Mervin Matthew dismantled the lower order to finish with 4 for 38, claiming Man-of-the-Match honours as West Indies Under-19s finished on 200 for 9.
In the late game at Coolidge, Leeward Islands defeated Kent by seven wickets, chasing a target of 229 with 6.3 overs to spare. Nkrumah Bonner steered the successful chase by scoring an unbeaten 78. Fast bowler Gavin Tonge had been the biggest obstacle in the Kent innings, taking 4 for 39 to restrict the English county side to 233, with their top score coming from Calum Haggett, who scored 45 off 59 balls at No. 7. Kent's score was revised to 228 after umpires imposed a five-run penalty.

RESULTS FOR JUNE 30

Barbados secured a one-wicket win in a low-scoring Group B clash against Jamaica at the Kensington Oval, to keep their unbeaten streak intact in the competition so far.
After Jamaica were bowled out for 190, Barbados lost half their side for 83, before recovering through late contributions and eventually limping past the finish line with two overs to spare. They rode on a vital 40 from Shane Dowrich who came out with the score on 62 for 4; by the time he fell, caught behind in the 38th over, Barbados were eight down and still needed 48. The ninth-wicket partnership between Ashley Nurse and Kemar Roach knocked off 42 of those runs, with Nurse calmly seeing the side to the win and finishing on 21 not out. Jamaica's new-ball duo of Jerome Taylor and Reynard Leveridge took five wickets between them, while Nikita Miller impressed with 1 for 22 in 10 overs.
When Jamaica batted, after winning the toss, they were in an early wobble at 27 for 3. Jermaine Blackwood held up his end for 40, but his wicket left the side at 97 for 6. They recovered through a seventh-wicket partnership of 77 between Rovman Powell, who top-scored with 74, and Damion Jacobs, who struck 31. Powell's knock, which came at a strike rate of 93.67, included three fours and six sixes. He was the eighth man to be dismissed, seven balls before Jamaica were all out. Barbados' new-ball duo did the bulk of the damage with Roach and Jason Holder snaring three wickets each.

ICC Americas continued to languish at the bottom of Group B after conceding a five-run win via the Duckworth-Lewis method against Guyana, their third defeat is as many matches. In a match reduced to 45 overs a side at the start, ICC Americas rode on contributions from the middle order to put up 220 for 7. In reply, Guyana were 212 for 4 with nine to get off as many balls when bad light forced the match to be called off. Guyana were found to be four runs ahead of the target at that stage and picked up their second win.
ICC Americas got into a solid position of 120 for 2 in the 31st over after being invited to bat, before Alex Amsterdam and captain Nitish Kumar, who top-scored with 66, fell in quick succession. Timroy Allen (37) and Srimantha Wijeratne (27) got off to starts at No. 5 and 6 but the side could not finish strongly. bowler Ronsford Beaton took 4 for 28 in nine overs for Guyana.
Guyana were reduced to 29 for 2 by the 11th over of the chase but they got back on track through a third-wicket stand of 131 between opener Assad Fudadin (54) and captain Leon Johnson (78). The batsmen fell in successive overs, but Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Chris Barnwell struck unbeaten 20s to see their team through.

Trindad & Tobago decimated West Indies Under-19s for 58 in the course of their eight-wicket win at North Sound on Tuesday. Having put West Indies U-19 in to bat, Sheldon Cottrell went on to scythe through the line-up, finishing with returns of 7-4-6-3 to pick up the Man-of-the-Match award. Seamer Roshon Primus and left-arm spinner Khary Pierre also took two wickets each during an innings that lasted only 31 overs.
West Indies U-19s' total of 58 was largely down to wicketkeeper Emmanuel Stewart's 60-ball 30, with none of the other batsmen even reaching double-figures. T&T needed only 10.2 overs to brush past the target, for the loss of their openers. The win helped T&T climb to second place on the table, even as West Indies U-19s languish at the bottom of Group A.

An unbeaten 84-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Adam Ball and wicketkeeper Adam Rouse sealed a four-wicket win for Kent, after Calum Haggett (4-59) and Imran Qayyum (3-42) had restricted Windward Islands to 241 for 9.
Having been put in to bat, Windward were struggling at 91 for 5, with Haggett and Qayyum having taken four of the five wickets at this stage. Sunil Ambris' 69-ball 50 - his third fifty-plus score in four matches - pushed the score to 241 with help from the lower order, particularly Windward captain Liam Sebastien (32), seamer Kyle Mayers (37 not out) and Darren Sammy (23). Kent captain Sam Northeast's 49 and his 60-run partnership for the second wicket with opener Sean Dickson (36) stabilized Kent quickly after the fall of Daniel Bell-Drummond.
Windward staged a fightback in the middle overs, claiming three wickets for 18 runs at one stage but Ball and Rouse squashed the opposition's chances with a rapid partnership that came off 74 balls. Ball was unbeaten on 40 off 46, while Rouse scored 36 off 37 as Kent reached the target with 23 balls to spare.

ICC Americas registered their first win since entering the Regional Super50 competition in 2016, beating Combined Campuses and Colleges by 72 runs on Duckworth-Lewis Method at Windward Park. It ended a streak of ten losses - five matches in 2016 and their first five matches in 2017 - for the squad comprised of Bermuda, Canada and USA players.
Captain Nitish Kumar top-scored with 80 off 100 balls for ICC Americas in their total of 265 after choosing to bat first. Two others also crossed 50 in the innings for ICC Americas, beginning with opener Kamau Leverock's 55 and ending with Timroy Allen's 69 off 73 balls before he fell in the second to last over. Kumar bridged both ends of the innings with his knock, adding 77 for the second wicket with Leverock after the early loss of Akeem Dodson.
Offspinning allrounder Vikash Mohan removed Leverock in the 18th over, then rattled the middle-order with a double-strike in the 26th over by claiming Srimantha Wijeratne and Hamza Tariq in the space of three balls to make it 121 for 5. A 97-run stand between Kumar and Allen for the sixth wicket righted the ship for ICC Americas, one which was interrupted by an hour rain delay at 186 for 5 in the 39th over. The pair stayed aggressive after play resumed, adding another 32 in 3.4 overs before Kumar fell but not before helping to forge the two biggest partnerships for ICC Americas in the entire tournament.
Allen fell to Nino Henry in the 49th and Jermaine Levy wiped out the tail with three wickets in the 50th to end with figures of 4 for 22 in five overs. However, the late collapse wound up not hurting ICC Americas in the end thanks to a superb performance from their spin attack, sparked by Kumar.
Amir Jangoo and Mark Deyal got CCC off to a brisk start in reply, adding 41 in 7.3 overs before Kumar struck to dislodge Jangoo for 16. Mohan and Deyal added 54 for the second wicket before Mohan fell for 30, with offspinner Nikhil Dutta inducing a return catch. Three balls later, play was halted at the end of the 20th over for another rain delay at 97 for 2 and CCC ahead of the D/L par score of 89.
However, the delay only lasted for 18 minutes with two overs deducted and a revised target of 260 for CCC. Legspinner Timil Patel struck on back-to-back balls in the 25th over to remove Kyle Corbin and Cassius Burton, putting ICC Americas in front on the D/L calculation in the event rain returned. Dutta struck again in the 26th to remove Ryan Hinds before Timil delivered a major blow in the 31st, knocking over Deyal for 66 to leave the tail exposed at 133 for 6.
Dutta took one more to finish with 3 for 32 and left-arm spinner Saad Bin Zafar wiped out the tail with two wickets as CCC were bowled out for 187 in the 44th over. Kumar was named Man of the Match for his efforts while Timil ended with figures of 3 for 38.
Jamaica moved closer to a semi-final berth with a 20-run win over Guyana at Kensington Oval. The result eliminated by CCC and ICC Americas from semi-final contention while Guyana's loss means that their only path to the semi-final is a bonus point win in their final Group B match against ICC Americas combined with a pair of Jamaica losses against both ICC Americas and Barbados to round out group play.
American Steven Taylor produced his highest List A score in his fourth match with Jamaica, making 86 in a total of 255 after Jamaica chose to bat first. Taylor struck five fours and six sixes in his knock before he stumbled attempting a single and was runout by Leon Johnson in the 30th over. Jamaica also got key contributions from Andre McCarthy, who added 99 for the fourth wicket with Taylor before falling for 45, and 42 by eventual Man of the Match John Campbell at No. 6. Raymon Reifer took two wickets with the new ball and came back with two more to knock over the tail, finishing with 4 for 38 for Guyana.
Guyana got off to a confident reply behind opener Assad Fudadin and Reifer at No. 3, with the pair adding 90 for the second wicket to take the score to 124 for 1 in the 29th over. Fudadin was runout for 57 to trigger a slide for Guyana and Reifer became the first of Campbell's four victims in the 37th for 54. Campbell burrowed through the middle order to remove Christopher Barnwell, Steven Jacobs and eventually Shiv Chanderpaul to make the score 165 for 7 in the 41st over as Campbell ended with figures of 4 for 43.
Anthony Bramble and Veerasammy Permaul hit seven sixes between them during a 59-run stand for the eighth wicket in a furious rally that took Guyana close to pulling off an outlandish heist. But the stand was broken by Jerome Taylor two balls into the 48th when he had Permaul edging behind for 30 off 21 balls to leave Guyana needing 32 off the final 16 balls to win. Devendra Bishoo was runout by Taylor off his own bowling three balls later and Bramble was last man out for 39 four balls into the 50th over to Rovman Powell.

Leeward Islands continued their impressive run through Group A with a four-wicket win over Windward Islands at Coolidge. Leewards did it in style as well, completing the highest successful chase in the competition this year by overhauling Windwards' total of 293 for 8 with eight balls to spare.
Leewards captain Kieran Powell continued his stupendous form by striking 80 off 84 balls to begin the chase, his fifth 50-plus score in six innings. Along the way, Powell crossed the 500-run barrier for the tournament. Powell added 112 for the first wicket with Montcin Hodge (46) and another 52 with Jermaine Otto (37) for the second before he eventually fell in the 32nd over to Liam Sebastien.
Nkrumah Bonner fell in the 34th to Delorn Johnson to make it 190 for 4, leaving 104 to win but Man of the Match Rahkeem Cornwall entered and struck a blistering 74 not out off 50 balls to get Leewards across the line. Cornwall teamed with Akeal Hosein for an unbeaten 89-run seventh-wicket stand to seal the match.
Hosein finished unbeaten on 26 off 24 balls and helped set up the win in the first innings by taking 4 for 57 with his left-arm spin. His spell included the wickets of Devon Smith, who came into the match with just 30 runs in six innings but finished with 101 for his seventh List A century, and Sunil Ambris for 53 off 36 balls, the wicketkeeper's sixth half-century in seven games putting him second behind only Powell for the tournament runs lead with 375 runs.

Trinidad & Tobago clinched their spot in the semi-finals with a five-wicket win over Kent at North Sound. Jason Mohammed struck an unbeaten 78 to track down a target of 195 with 8.4 overs to spare and in the process eliminated Kent from contention for the knockout stage.
Mohammed and Denesh Ramdin came together at 65 for 3 and added 127 runs for the fourth wicket, taking T&T within one shot of victory before Ramdin fell to Matt Coles for 56 in the 40th. A runout Roshan Primus was runout off the next ball and Khary Pierre played out a maiden in the 41st before Mohammed struck a boundary two balls into the 42nd to finish the match.
Ravi Rampaul took 4 for 37, doing his damage in a late spell after going wicketless with the new ball, to bowl out Kent for 194 in 46 overs after they were sent in by T&T. Will Gidman top-scored with 50 for Kent and added 75 for the fifth wicket with Alex Blake. But when Rayad Emrit bowled Gidman in the 41st it sparked a collapse of 6 for 21. Rampaul began the 42nd with the wicket of Blake for 36 before working his way through the tail and now has 14 wickets in the tournament, just two behind Ashley Nurse and Alzarri Joseph for the tournament lead.
