Trini star set for a swan song.
By: Soriebah Kajue (Voice Online) & Mike Berry.

Stern John is backing his fellow Trinidad and Tobago international Jason Scotland to fire Swansea to the League One title. The 29-year-old signed for the Welsh team after making his name north of the border with St Johnstone, where he rattled in an astonishing 33 goals in 66 appearances.

His free scoring form has continued for the Swans – 21 goals to date – and has propelled them to 8-point lead at the summit of the table.

“If they keep playing the way they are and Jason keeps on banging in the goals, then they should get promoted,” John told the Voice of Sport. “They have a big advantage at the moment and there are only a few games left so they are well on the way to doing it.

“He’s come down from Scotland and is doing very well in his first season in England. Hopefully he continues and does it for the rest of the season and next season also.”

The number of players from the tiny Caribbean island in British football is growing. Carlos Edwards is the leading light at Premier League club Sunderland and John – who is with Championship side Southampton – says they are all in regular contact.

He added: “All the Trinidad lads stay in touch and try and hangout together because there are not that many of us in England, and Trinidad is a small country. All of us had dreams of playing in England and at the moment we are fulfilling those dreams.”

Meanwhile, Jason has been awarded Player of the Month for March 2008. That's two (2) now with the first being last December. He has been selected for the Prestigious PFA Team of the Year for League 1 and will attend the Annual Glittering awards Ceremony in London at the swanky Grosvenor Hous hotel in the company of a host of Premiership/Championship and media personalities to receive his award.

He follows in the footsteps of countrymen Carlos Edwards and Clayton Ince last year and keeps the Trini Flag flying once again at this Major Event. His 29 goals (so far), Player of the month awards and this PFA honour with, hopefully, promotion in his 1st season to the Championship League make this a truly memorable season for Jason where he has exploded on the English scene and made a tremendous impact with his prolific goalscoring and robust attacking style.

He really is in great form which is not only great for Swansea City FC but also for T&T with their forthcoming WC campaign around the corner.
