Kerry Noray, the 22-year-old CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh striker, was voted “Most Valuable Player” in the final of the First Citizens Bank Cup between his side and Vibe CT 105 W Connection on July 30 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium.
Noray, who opened the scoring for his team in the final, which was decided on a “golden goal” by clubmate Otis Seaton, was not on hand to receive his award on Thursday at the VIP Lounge, Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Kerry Noray, Serginho Sandy and exciting teammate Kerry Baptiste, left a day after the final to take up scholarships at Lindsey Wilson College in Indiana, USA.
During his address, Larry Howai, CEO of First Citizens Bank, said he was a bit disappointed last year with the public support in the tournament.
“However, this year I started to see some improvement in the crowd support,” he added. “That gave us hope. Maybe, that is a signal that football is coming alive in T&T again.”
Larry Romany, chairman of the organisers of the tournament, the Trinidad and Tobago Professional Football League, said that he too witnessed a rise in the enthusiasm among the spectators and that his body will now focus on moving forward.
“One of the key things we will be working on is attracting sponsors and spectators,” he said.
“Over the next five months we will be informing T&T and the corporate sector about the branding of the T&T Pro League.”
