As they prepare for the upcoming CONCACAF Champions League, DIRECTV W Connection FC has sought to strengthen the front line of their squad with the signing of 20 year old Surinamese striker Stefano Rijssel.
Rijssel was first spotted as he played against Connection in the recently concluded CFU Club Championship with the team SV InterMoengoTapoe.
His on-field abilities peaked the interests of Technical Director Stuart Charles Fevrier and club owner David John-Williams. Of the young forward, Fevrier commented that he was a “versatile striker with the ability to score and set up goals”.
Rijssel, who scored two goals in the CFU competition, and has represented Suriname at the U-20, U-23, and Senior levels, signed a 3 year deal with the Savonetta Boys in time for their pre-season preparations which kicked off on July 9th.
