Soccerex is the world’s largest football exhibition and forum. An event that has been around for nineteen (19) years will for the first time be holding an Americas forum, which will take place on the 21-22 October, 2014 on the island of Barbados.

The inaugural Americas forum is a two day event in conjunction with the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. to promote football growth and development across North, Central and the Caribbean.

Jeffery Webb (President of CONCACAF), Phil Rawlins (Co-owner of Orlando City FC), former players John Barnes and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and companies such as Hilton, Marka Sports, SportsMax will be a few of those taking part in the event.

Trinidad and Tobago will not be absent as a high profile team of football administrators would be part of the delegate cast present at the event. The T&T contingent is as follows; Dexter Skeene (CEO, TT Pro League), Alvin Corneal (Alcons), Everald ‘Gally’ Cummings (former T&T player and Head coach), David Martin and Peter Mc Davis (Board members of San Juan Jabloteh), Bernard Pantin (GM, DirecTV), Renee John-Williams and David John-Williams (General Sec. and President of W Connection), Cassie-Marie St John (Managing Editor, MACO) and Narada Wilson (Sport Exec, TBL Sports).

Wilson of TBL Sports was given the task to advocate and assist Soccerex in the Caribbean region. “Over the last year I have been rallying for the Caribbean but more so Trinidad to have a presence at Soccerex” he continued “I have dealt with Soccerex for a couple years and even was close to having the TTFA partake last year before it was cancelled in Brazil”.

The TBL Sports Executive had the opportunity to speak to few stakeholders about the event and is satisfied with the composition of the group that will make the trip to Barbados. “The hope is that in the future more clubs, administrators and businesses would partake but more importantly via the exhibitor’s route.

This however is the first step, have the personnel attend as delegates which gives them the opportunity to attend the forums, interact and exchange contacts with others in the industry worldwide, from players to sponsors etc.” He closed by saying “Information is easy to share but living the experience makes it easier for things to be understood”

One person guaranteed to make a mark at the event for the first time will be David John-Williams, he will be one of four panelist including MLS Commissioner and CEO of SportsMax speaking on the topic ‘Expanding into football history’ on day 2 of the event.
