Stokely Vale kept the blink/bmobile National Super League title race alive, at least until the end of Match Day 17, as the team eased past West Side Super Starzs 4-1, on Monday.

The match was played on Stokely Vale’s home turf at Plymouth Recreation Ground, Tobago. Trevon James scored a brace for the winners, and opened the scoring as early as the second minute of play. Krishwawn Joseph doubled up for Stokely Vale in the tenth minute.

West Side pulled one goal back in the 36th minute through Kareem Freitas, but just seconds after the restart, forward Deon Thomas scored to give Stokely Vale’s its two goal advantage at 3-1.

Stokely Vale kept West Side at bay for the majority of the match and wrapped up the scoring, just after the hour mark for the easy three points.

The victory put the club within a point of leaders bmobile Joe Public, which is in action today at home to Real Maracas at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.

Joe Public will win the title today, with a match to spare, if it emerges victorious against Real Maracas. The two teams will take to Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph from 4 pm.

Granted that Joe Public fail to win its match, the league challenge will come down to the final round of matches, when the top two sides meet at Plymouth, Tobago, next Wednesday.

The last time the two teams met, Joe Public emerged 2-1 victors over the Tobago team, to clinch the knock-out title, in September. Brent Antoine scored a double for the winners.

In a replay fixture on Sunday, Real Maracas and WASA played to a 1-1 draw at Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph. A last minute strike from Shane Calderon put WASA level after Handel Manswell opened for Real Maracas at the start of the second half.

St Francois and Club Sando’s fixture, which was scheduled to be played on Monday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium Training Field, Mucurapo, failed to kick off as the officials deemed the pitch unplayable, due to poor outlining.

WASA will be back in action today when the team hosts Eagles United at WASA Ground, St Joseph in the late, 5 pm fixture.
